I've never gardened on this large of a scale before, and I am pretty clueless as to the benefits of a disc harrows. What can I use them for - including less common uses?

I just now figured out I can adjust my top bar super short to tilt the front-edge of my box scraper radically forward for laying off rows.

If I had discs - would I need a tiller?

An attachments FAQ would be wonderful.

It varies with who you talk to and the size of a disc harrow, but I find the disk harrow is a good preparer of dirt for the drag harrow, after which the dirt is ready for direct or drilled seeding (like oats, alfalfa, corn, etc.) but not so good for garden seeding.

But I may just like the tiller better because the hand weeding with a hoe or walking cultivator is easier, than it is if the ground is only disced and dragged. If you have a tractor tiller to keep the rows weeded in the garden, then the disc harrow may be sufficient, depending on the type of soil you have.
