I didn't realize their was a difference between a drum mower and a disc mower. I will check into them and give the fail mower a look also. I was trying to avoid the fail mower and the rotary cutter because I can't get into the field to mow until the corn/beans are out and by then the grass is knee high and a lot of it is as tall as the hood of the 2305.
Huh? Rotary mowers (aka brush hogs, bush hogs, slashers, shredders) are what you use for tall weeds. Flail mowers work also but are generally slower than rotary mowers. The orchard growers around here use 10-12-ft wide flails to mow the weeds between the trees. You also see flails used for golf course roughs and fairways.
Disc and drum mowers almost always are used to mow hay crops. Drum mowers have fewer moving parts than disc mowers and are about half the cost.
