Disc or Tiller

One thought....My county ag extension agent said that tillers create hardpan at the depth where the bottom tines reach.

Since you've resurrected an older thread, let me just say that from time to time, run a ripper through your soil, if hard pan becomes an issue. Almost every implement, over time, creates a situation where no tilling is done at, say, 8" or so and deeper. How hard that "pan" is depends on one's soil type.

Thanks. I've been guilty of repeated tilling. But I plan say once per year, to bust through the hardpan with deeper tillage equipment, like a chisel plow, or a subsoiler.
