It all depends on the soil conditions and how deep you run it.

I've heard lots of people say a 30 HP tractor wont pull a 3 bottom plow, but I do it all the time with a 54 NAA

Just looking at the framing would indicate that a lot of force is expected.

If each disc were sunk until a 16" line across the disc was buried it would have about as much drag as a 4 bottom 16" plow. Probably a bit more since the rounded bottom would dig a bit deeper.

It would seem to make quite a mess of the ground.

However, it would eliminate shins, shares, frogs, moldboards, and so forth. The discs don't seem to be a standard manufacture so may be hard to find.

Look like cat I pins, and I was of the mind that the disc plows pulled easier...discs rotate to move (roll) the dirt and not shove it.

But I'd think 50 hp too.

If its got cat 1 pins dont that mean were talking 45 or less hp or it would have cat 2 pins. If It needed 50 or 65 hp wouldnt you just break the cat 1 pins off once it started into the ground?

Is it me, or does it look like the last disc (furthest from hitch) is on a removable subframe?

It might be possible to quickly turn this thing into a 3 bottom plow.

We quote 35 HP for this Athens 2 disc plow to our customers. Ken Sweet

I have a 2 disk like that that came with my 1950 IH cub tractor (9 hp) and it actually will pull it. It seems to be as big as the cub, and has a bar hooked to the front steering to help allow the tractor to turn by turning the rear heavy wheel opposite the front wheels.

I believe you are right. That would work, if you could bring the trail/furrow wheel up to plug into that same opening. Ken Sweet

Was that plow belly mount or bolt to the axle on the cub? Ken Sweet
