Can i pull a two disc plow with a 20 hp tractor thank you

Are you talking about a plow or a disc? If your atually talking about a 2 bottom plow ( one that cuts 2 trenchs at the same time)
then 20 hp is usually not enough. Its likly you will exceed you traction before stalling out the motor but either way your over the capacity of the tractor.

Monroe Tufline is one of the few manufacturers still producing disc plows.

Twenty horsepower is not enough to pull a two disc plow.

If you have four wheel drive and some type of ribbed tires, you can pull a 10", possibly 12", old school single bottom moldboard/turning plow.

How deep do you want to plow? What is your soil?

Brinly is still the key supplier of light weight equipment:

"Two disc plow" conjures up something like disc plow.jpg in my mind's eye. I've read that 30+ HP are recommended for that size.

A true "disc plow" requires considerably less HP than a moldboard plow. Depending on soil conditions, 20 HP might 'just ' do it. In peat soils we would operate at speeds of 4-5+ MPH. Difficult to keep straight furrows if you have varying soil conditions in your field.

I used to pull a 2 disc plow with a John Deere M. Tractordata.com says it claimed 18 hp at the drawbar. The disc were worn and not very big. It pulled it fine.

The point of discussion shouldn't be HP. It should be the tractor's physical size/weight.

Your "Tractor" info isn't complete enough to know about that.

Are you talking about a plow or a disc? .

he said disc plow. it's a like a bottom plow only using large discs.

To the op. Unless it's a darn small disc plow.. I'd suspect you will not like a 20hp machine on a 2-disc bottom plow. if it is sand or pre-turned or tilled earth.. -maybee-

i wouldn't spend money on an implement that i could only pull on tuesdays with gum on my show with a favorable wind though..

I pulled two big disc hillers with my 18.5 hp 4wd JD 4010, with the discs discharging to the middle. I'd think if I turned one of the discs so that they discharged in parallel, like you're asking, that it would do it. Not sure how well it would hold the line though. If you had a good trail guide wheel to help it hold the line, that it would work.

hillers are a bit of a different animal.

enough weight will be needed to make use of traction too.

a 40 hp tractor that is light and can't get traction may plow worse than a perfectly ballasted 30hp machine.
