Good to hear it is OFF.
You've probably bent or mushroomed something.

What I cant understand is why they cant make the push side of it like the other side so the head you are pushing on is large and flat and isn't like pushing on the point of a nail. Just plain stupid to make something like that to begin with.

Glad you got it off with no major damage to you or equipment. TSC or any equipment dealer will have a replacement pin mechanism and can tell you how to replace the old one. It isn't very difficult.

Gwdixion, sorry about that. It happens to me too. You know us Appalachian Americans here in NC don't think too fast LOL

Ted: You are forgiven, this time.

Now the job is to get that pin loose. Now that it is soaked in WD40 try tapping it back the other direction. Then depress it. Go back and forth until it is freed up.

If that fails then a replacement is necessary. The whole PTO shaft doesn't need changed (very expensive). Try to find a pin first. Second would be to find a U-joint end. In fact, you don't need the full U-joint, just the yolk.

Finished mowing in the dark. Ate some ribs I cooked on the Big Green Egg yesterday and will now get some rest. I'll check out the back and forth work on the pin tomorrow. Thanks again everyone.

It's OFF !!! Thank you , everyone! Triple Rs Bigger Hammer! MORE FORCE!!! Also sitting around talking with my older, 77, brother in law, watching WD 40 sink in, Did it!
Pin goes through to other side. There must be a problem with the pin because it still won't pop out. Have a great night. This 68 year old is going to hook up the Bush Hog with a well greased PTO and cut some pasture!

Where did TripleR's reply go? It was there earlier this morning......about post #3 or #4...talking about his hand strength, his son and a bigger hammer. Just curious.

I never saw it in a thread (I think that's the term!?) but saw it in an email to me. He was spot on - even to the almost giving up, walking around and trying one more time! Of course he (she??) also got the "bigger hammer".

Here is triple R's post via my email. I did it and It worked!! Ironically I have a nephew who is also "pretty strong and use to doing this sort of thing" and if he didn't leave for Afghanistan last week, would have been with me today instead of my other older brother in law. And I'm sure with the same results!

"Sometimes it helps to walk around in circles and scratch your head a few times. I don't have much hand strength either and my son came up to hook something up, he is pretty strong and use to doing this sort of thing, but he just could not get it to work. He gave up, walked around the shop a few times trying to figure out what the problem was before getting a bigger hammer (common approach when dealing with implements) when he decided to try it one more time...click..."

Well congratulations.

I'm surprised noone (even me) mentioned the OBVIOUS solution - Get another tractor for another implement :) One implement, one tractor!!

Oh, and when I mentioned C-clamp I thought it would be obvious you'd have to use jury-rigged spacers (like little blocks of wood and wedges) to get it to fit correctly.

Now that you have it off the best thing is to buy my Kubota tiller $750, 4' (Used one time) Taylor Way Rotary mower $500,. Ferguson Overseeder $450 and Single bottom mold board plow $300. Just decided to sell them yesterday and making first offer here berore Craigs and local trader online ads.
I also do the walk around method and then decide if I'm willing to replace a part or the whole thing after I beat it to death but usually my later attacks work, sometimes they don't and I have to take the mangled part in to get a replacement.:D.
