Discouraged by the work involved changing implements

I have to admit, that of all of them, the tractor that is easiest to change implements on is an antique, from the tractor series that first brought us the 3 point hitch (Ford 8n). There is just something about that tractor's light weight, compact size, and larger "pin clearance", that makes implement changes a snap.

Interesting to hear someone else say that. I too find my Ford NAA the easiest tractor to hook up out of any I've ever used (from 15hp to 200hp.) The 3pt is uncluttered and has perfect geometry. I can basically attach the lower links and the top link while still sitting in the tractor seat by reaching back and moving the arms as I back up. Just have to get off to put the lynch pins in and the top link pin. I guess they just can't make a better 3pt hitch than the original. ;)

fair enough. I forgot that Bobcat went to the Bob-Tach system. VERY JEALOUS. But it is just us i think. Poor guys backing up to their tractors, pushing implements around.... They have no idea how good life could really be ;-)
Yep, sure like having the 7' brush hog out front! :D

This is video from Moss Road. While his machine is the smaller version it gives you an idea of front implement switches

My PT swings a 96" cutter but it is not as great as a true brush hog. Handles 2" with a lot of noise but bigger than that becomes and issue.

But not of that is going to help with your post hole digger. It will still need to go on as before. I am told the key to easy post holde mounting is having the proper PHD stand built on your property to hand the PHD from on overhead structure. You will still need to hook up the PTO.. I find the Push button ones to be the easiest. And the more you put it on and take it off, the easier it gets because you are more skilled at doing it. I used to have trouble, no I have no trouble. It is a matter of practice.

I agree with ua. I used to bust my ***** trying to get the phd mounted then a lightbulb went on. I put a clamp on the support at the balance point and hung it from the 2X12's supporting my deck. It became real easy to pivot it around to mount it when all the weight was being supported. A stout branch would do the same :)

Hey Vert, that is part of the reason that the Ford N's remain my favorite tractors of all time. No tractor made since is easier to change implements on. The new ones are actually so hard, that things like Pat's, , dollys, I-Match, Quick Hitch, etc. need to be used to simplify the task. I guess today's engineers like to complicate things a bit. Why they tightened the pin clearances, I will never understand. One things for sure, the original has not been improved upon when it comes to putting implements on or off.
