Joester, I split my time between Az and KY my tractor shopping was pretty much open to most of the US. The used market in KY is high and the only thing that I can figure out is they have more value there because they earn thier keep. Also a lot of folks can not afford new. Did the local NH/Kubota dealer have a three part name? Hint; HDR. I ended up buying from Barlow's in Sommerset. No BS gave me a price and I knew it was right. They are 100 miles away, but I do my own maintenance. I always give the local guys a shot at my business, but I can't afford them. I find that even on attachments I can save 15% by driving 20 miles to Glasgow.

Yep you hit the nail on the head bake. Honestly, I went to 4 dealers in the area and none had anything used like what I was looking for. Only one of the dealers even acted like they were interested in my buisness and the one with the 3 word name was not it. I work with a guy that bought a new one from them a few years ago and he highly recommended them, so I was very surprised. I did price a new TC1520 /w FEL and it was really high compared to other prices I have seen on the net. They guy I spoke with about it didn't seem that interested in moving it either so I guess they didn't really need the sale anyway.

Yep, same generally with the new england dealers, with only one exception I've found. Which is why I buy from Messicks in PA.

Don't be afraid of buying from out of state or region - its not that big a deal. Whereas paying New England prices is.

joe - at least you are in Kentucky and not in Canada :) Prices are generally more expensive here for pretty much everything .

A guy can save about $10k buying a new truck in the USA compared to here. Whats more is that the manufacturers make it hard for the little guy like us to actually find car or truck dealers that will deal with you on new equipment.

At least you can call Barlow and make a deal over the phone :)

Thats about normal, prices are very market specific. Back at our old home in Erie PA, we had 4 good size kubota dealers within a hours drive or less, and all did very well sales wise, reason: The whole area near the lake is covered with grape vineyards and small farms. I work at a kubota dealership just south of Kokomo IN, we have a few used ones, but nothing in that HP range right now, just new. Only used stuff we have are 2 B7100'sk 1 2wd and 1 4wd, and 1 B6200 4wd with tiller and mower deck. Cheers Mike

so far I have used 3 different JD dealers--one 200 miles away, one 25 miles, and the other 60 miles. Only had one warranty issue and went to the dealer who sold me the tractor. I use the dealer 25 miles away for shop work and parts. they never ask me where I bought my tractors.

Don't know where you're at in KY but if in West Ky and thinking about Kioti, I would check out Little Equipment in Metropolis Illinois ( right across the river from Paducah). I have dealt with them and work with several people who have bought tractors there and we all have had very good experiences.

Just curious, what is your tractor budget and do you plan to finance or pay for your tractor outright?

One thing to keep in mind when comparing prices to those posted here is how long ago the tractor was purchased. The price of steel has basically doubled in this calendar year alone! (The price for some kinds of scrap steel, which is a major driver in steel pricing is up more than 5 times what it was 5 years ago.) This does get reflected in tractor and implement prices. Sometimes, a price from just a few months ago is significantly different than today's pricing.
