Dish Network Sneaky Fee - save about $9.00/month

Ive been with Dish about 20 yrs. Once considered DTV, but they force you to rent their equipment, won't let you install.

I own my equipment. They tried to sell me HD for yrs, didn't bite. Knew they would eventually include it, which they now do.

You might also be paying a "lease fee" for the equipment that over time is several times more than what you can buy the equipment for.

Thank you - yes we are leasing the receiver/dvr. Didn't know you could buy it! And thanks for the switch back and forth idea as well. I switched away from Direct because their software was horrible. I kept losing my favorites and they "didn't have any control over the software"

I know people that regularly switch back and forth between DISH and DIRECT as soon as the commitment expires. The promotional pricing is cheap.

That is the least expensive Dish vs. DTV game strategy but most people aren't willing to endure the hassle.

I am thinking of adding "DogTV" to my DirecTV package. Our dogs sleep in the family room, and I think they would like to have it on at night.

DOGTV ABOUT

If your dogs are "watch dogs" you might be able to write that off as a business expense... :)

We get 21 fta CHANNELS 26 if you include HD so there should be a bit of choice, from 4pm to 7pm it is mainly news, current affairs or woeful soapies and tthe weekend is worse.
Some channels haave just started with 4K but only for football, I hate football.
I juust wish there was some variety and less re runs, such as a week of Elvis movies, it's all too much and a ploy to sell satellite.

What I've come to depend upon - the DVR. Without it you must suffer through commercials. I don't know if I could go back.

So - I just checked my Dish network bill. I have $12 monthly fee for local channels. Monthly FCC regulatory fee - $0.03. Monthly taxes - $0.73.

There is no way I can reach local channels in Spokane with an outside aerial - I have tried.

I am signed up with paperless auto billing. Works just great for me.

I do not have a DVR.

Looking at the breakdown of rekees bill vs mine - - somebody is getting the SHAFT.

I've been with Dish a LOOOOONG time and never had to have them out for a service call. So I have no idea how long I would have to wait. Maybe the wait would be so long that I would decide to live out here, without TV.

I could so live without TV. The Internet is another issue completely.
