There are disc harrows and disc plows.............they look a lot alike, but, they do different things.
A "harrow" be it spring, spike or disc is designed to break-up rough tillled ground, busting clods, clumps, and smooth gouges. It is not a tillage piece but rather a conditioning tool.
Plows? There are disc plows which are heavier which are intended as the primary tillage tool that bust new ground and attempt to condition in the same pass.
