OK guys....
I have a Kubota L3010 with a draw bar and three point hitch out back.
The previous owners of my land left behind a disk and rake attachment.
I want to plant a fall food plot on one of fields.

The disk attachment is about 6 feet wide with about 8 disks and an area for weight boxes. It does not have a 3 point hook up. It has what looks like a draw bar hook up only.

How can I hook this up and move it from one area to another without digging?
I cant lift it with the 3 point and there is no obvious lever to disengage or align the disks.

My rake is has the same problem. It has a draw bar hook up with no ability to pick it up off the ground.

Guess I could pick them up with my front end loader and hook up at the food plot but this does not seem like the right way to move them without tearing up the ground.

A lot of the drawbar implements have a mechanism to raise and lower the transport wheels. It sounds like yours is missing this?

That may be why they left them behind. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Unless you have the desire and ability to modify them for 3-point hookup, I'd say your idea of moving them with the FEL will be easiest. You may just need to do some creative chaining/rigging unless you have bale forks on your bucket.

How much does it weigh? Other people here have used 3PT boom poles to lift drawbar attached implements for transport, and this would simplify turning at the end of the row.

Usually the old pull-type disks without wheels had a mechanical method to straighten the disk blades in line, so they would not cut in (much). That was the way they were transported from field to field. Is this single or tandem?

Pull-types hooked to the drawbar, and in a pinch, could be hooked to the 3pt drawbar.

A picture would help.

I agree with the others.. pull type implements either used a hyd cyl to pivot 'road wheels' down.. or a turnbuckle to get wheels down.. Sometimes you saw cheaper units where you could not angle the cut of the gangs.. but usually there was a way to change them with a big bolt and sliding receiver setup.

Whichever way you pick them up.. be carefull.. if from a boom pole.. pick up as close to the tractor as possible.. don't go fast.. keep the implement low..

If you are going to lift them, I'd add that to be very careful to avoid side to side movement while raised.

It is very possible for them to swing to the side while raised, into the tires. Lots of bad news if that happens...

I'd suggest the 3ph conversion. Not too much to it, especially if you combine it with a 3ph drawbar. Just the triangular upright to add and weld for the toplink.

Thanks for the help guys.

I feel like an idiot. I went out last night and noticed that there are two bars where you can pull pins out and move the disks so they are inline and act as wheels. I could not hook the disk up to my draw bar so I used a bar that I had laying around that runs between the two lower points on my 3point hitch. It has wholes all across it and I was able to attach the disk onto this bar.
Once I got over to my food plot area I moved the disks inward so they would cut but because the weight boxes were missing the disk would not dig in.
I dont want to spend allot of money because I am just trying to make a food plot for deer and turkey.
I am going to make my own weight boxes tonight out of plywood and concrete. I should be able to put some chain in in the concrete to give me lifting points if I need to remove them.

Can anyone give me an idea how much weight I should be looking to make these boxes?

I need to make two boxes that are almost 2 feet by 7inches.
I should be able to put two 80pound bags of concrete mix in each one if they are 12 inches deep.
That would give me 320 pounds of weight but I dont know if that is enough to dig in.

JohnJohn,

The bar between your two lower 3ph arms with all the holes is a 3ph drawbar....

A triangular upright is all that you'd need to make it 3ph, if that's what you wanted to do.

I am actually not using my draw bar. I picked up a bar with about 10 holes on it that mounts to the two lower hydraulic hitch arms.
It works out great pulling the disk.
The disk coupler point is actually two small to attach to my drawbar.

I just need to figure out what is a good amount of weight to put on top of an 8 disk attachment.
