I have a 10' offset John Deere model 225 disk. This weekend I broke the 3 leaf spring that operates the leveling / lift bar. I have a replacement on the wag from the dealership ($425. Ouch😥). This is an older disk and I have noticed that newer versions utilize a coil spring to achieve the same result. I'm gonna go ahead with OEM Replacement this time, but if this part fails again I'm planning on trying to custom fabricate a coil spring type replacement. Has anyone done this with good results?

If you have a spring shop nearby they could make you a spring for a fraction of the OEM cost.

Ditto on that.
You can try truck repair shops also. There are several spring shops in Dallas.
