dispensing of premium fuel

I know of one station in the entire Spokane, WA area that has ethanol free gas and its regular. CDIH when I'm going to make a 60 mile round trip just for a five gallon Jerry can of ethanol free gas. Everything I own runs just fine of 10% ethanol gas or it goes back to the dealer on warrantee.

Just don't let it sit- OEMs don't warranty fuel issues

I buy NO E gas for all of my small engines.

These days I won't use anything else in them, and ALL of my small engine problems have went away!!...

I like to have some fuel around, so I have one 15 gallon dispenser and maybe fill a couple cans too. IF the power goes out or ect., it's handy to have gas around, plus I use a small generator quite often here for all kinds of other things too...

The station I go to, the premium is NO E fuel, so I put the first gallon or so in my truck, then fill all the containers I brought...

I am sure that works great ....unless your state prohibits the sale of non-ethanol gas.
My only option is 100LL gas from the local small airport. About $6.00 per gal.

I use high-octane, no-ethanol gas for my occasional chainsaw and weed trimmer use and I buy just one gallon at the most at any one time. The gas pumps that have the single hose/nozzle set that are shared by all grades of gas would probably pump out a good portion of my gallon as lower grade fuel (whatever the previous customer happened to buy). Maybe the pumps are sophisticated enough to clear the hose contents back to the storage tanks - I don't know.

Fortunately, there is a gas station in my area that still uses pumps that have a separate hose and nozzle for each of the grades of fuel and that is where I go for my high-octane.

Wow. No wonder I always ran 87 car gas in my Cessna Indian reservation stations usually have non ethanol even in states that demand ethanol. It's usually in the premium and often not advertised with signs.

Fuel problems not covered under warranty. Geeze, I am glad all my small engines are way way way out of warranty. My Super XL-AO chain saw is circa 1972 and runs great, has never had premium and always fuel from pumps marked up to 10% intoxicated ever since that began. My Red Max trimmer is mid 1980 or or so and same history, and my most recent Stihl brush cutter and also the pole saw were my first to call for 50:! with premium fuel. They are 5 or 6 years or more old and get regular with whatever alcohol may be present. I use same 50:1 in all of these now and no problems. BUT I have ALWAYS drained the fule and run them dry at theh end of a day's work, unless I was using them again the next day. The XL-AO is the only one that has had even a carb kit, but that was after many years of use. Sometimes our fuel from pumps maked "up to 10%" seem to have no alcohol, or at least smell like good old fashioned gas instead of alcohol. I used up fuel mix yesterday that I had mixed last April and today mixed new with premium and noticed no differency in performance at all in the brush cutter.

There's a station near me that sells ethanol free gas, but only 91 octane...is it ok to run high octane in small engines such as lawn mower, log splitter, snowblower, etc?

I was always under the impression it's actually a detriment to run high octane in small engines because the fuel is actually harder to burn.

But what's the worse of two evils? Higher than recommended octane or ethanol?

Lots a luck with that ......I got away with it too,,FOR A WHILE. I think you will find that your alwYs friendly dealers will go only so far with the ethanol angle . They will surely be ever so happy to sell you another brand new one once yours begins having problems you don't want to del with........just sayin

I run regular non ethanol in the 4 strokes and premium non ethanol in the 2 strokes. All but one of my 2 strokes are Stihl who recommends mid grade anyway. No issues here.

Here, we have several stations that have multiple hoses at each pump, so each fuel grade has its own. Plus the premium has no alcohol in it. Are we lucky? Premium here is about .30 more than regular unleaded.
