Don't know how much, saw the ad in Turf Magazine. I suspect it is somewhere in the neighborhood of $3,000 - $5,000. Keep in mind their market is commercial operators - lawn contractors, golf courses etc. Somebody here might have posted about it in the past, maybe try a search.

Im almost done with mine the five foot cutter is a bit heavy and im gonna have to add a guid wheel to hold the weight. My cutter was ugly but free. Ill try to take a picture of my friends machine Friday. His is on a little Hinomoto. Mine is 5 foot becuase i wanted it to fit on the 5000 Ford at work and dads 3000 Yanmar. The county cant cut the ditch weeds weekly here and its alot of weed eating as the cars down this road try to qualify for indy racing. Plus week mow for a few friends with ponds.

Could a sickle bar mower, such as the ones in the link below, be used for ditch mowing? Do most sickle bar mowers have a down angle? The ones in this link can angle 45 or 70 degrees down. Are these only good for grass or can they cut through light brush as well? What are the pros and cons of a sickle bar mower versus these other ditch bank cutters? For one, I'm sure a sickle bar mower is much less expensive than the ditch bank mowers. I have seen new sickle bar mowers advertised for less than $1800.

Which companies make quality sickle bar mowers?

These things seem deadly! I have read about some pretty horrific accidents involving these things. I would almost be afraid to use one.

I have a Micro Mower. The 128 model with the FL 40 flail head. It does a good job on grass and weeds, not so good on brush. I bought it new 5-6 years ago, after using it, I would not do without it. Are you sitting down? At that time it was $8,000 new./forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Need any more info, just ask.

memenzel,

/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Do you use it for residential or commerical applications? If personal, what sort of applications do you have for it? Do you use your 4410 to run it and does it handle it well? That price tag is a tough pill to swallow!

Now we know why the price isn't listed.
Their darn proud of that puppy!!
Never would have guessed it was that much!

The sickle mower is not designed to cut small saplings, branches or bushes. You can cut some twigs but sickle mowers are designed to cut grass. If you have an area clean of debris then a sickle mower will work great. Sickle mowers are great for trimming under fences, creek banks, around ponds, clipping pasture but not brush hogging.

memenzel,

Right now, curiosity is getting the best of me. I can see where the micro-mower could be a very useful addition to my collection of implements; however, I don't know that I could justify the $8000 (+???) expense, no matter how hard I tried.

But, since my curiosity is really great, I may take a drive up I-75 to Ohio to see that machine at a dealer if I can find one. I've emailed the company asking for information (no reply yet). I travel to Dayton (Wright Patterson AFB) about once a year; do you know of a dealer near there? In case I get desperate, how far are you from the Dayton area?

How wide of a cut does your FL40 mower head cut? The photos on the micro-mower web site show different mowing heads, but don't give any additional details such as cutting width.

Thanks for responding to this post. It is good to hear that you're still pleased with the machine and still love it after 5-6 years of ownership. On the other hand, maybe I didn't need to hear that...
