Hedge Apples - my kids always called them "monkey brains"! LOL!

Here's a good article from Mother Earth News that talks about using Osage Orange (which are what produces the hedge apples) to create a living fence. Osage Orange has thorns in it so it will form a pretty good barrier around your place. I'm planning on doing that around my place.

I use the site Do It Yourself Pest Control Products & Supplies | Do My Own Pest Control for research and good prices. I use Bifen IT ( Bifen IT, Bifenthrin 7.9% Insecticide - Free Shipping ) since it is safer than many others, and can be used indoors or outside. I also use permethrin ( Permethrin SFR - Permethrin 36.8% Concentrate Insecticide) for outside only, but it doesn't last as long and breaks down in sunlight.
