DIY Cell dialer for shop alarm

Great Idea.
I have wireless driveway alert alarms on my entry doors from HF, $13.99 when on sale, good to 200+ ft they say. One of those set up inside the outbuilding would let you know in the house and hooked up to your cell phone dialer would call you anyplace. Remember not to lock the cat in the garage though.

I bought two of those on the same channel. I can set one for the driveway and one for the shop. My problem is with Opposum's and cats prowling at night setting the receiver off at 2am The one on my driveway I first took a picture of the tree I was going to put it on so I could camoe it and blackout the red led alert. I forgot and left it on today while I was cutting grass/leaves and was driving the dog nuts inside. :laughing:

I actually used the HF driveway alert motion sensor in the wood shed to "Bing-bong" me in the house when that racoon was getting into the dog food bin. Very effective.

Mine are set above the doors with motion detector lights, at a downward angle to detect motion only out to about 25 ft. We get a few cats, coons etc at night but they generally don't turn the lights on. Inside a building though unless you've got really big rats, you shouldn't have many false alarms and hooked up to JRP's phone dialer would let you know somethings up, wherever you're at. If you already have a phone line in the shop, there are several motion detector phone dialers for land lines available from about $20.

They are old radios from Huntsville prision that a friend gave me once most of the batteries died. There is an external connection for a handheld mic that has a jumper wire in it so the radio is always keyed up but with no power.

The IR motion sensor is a radioshack brand, for hog hunting I use the "pet lense" one of 5 lenses that came with it. The pet lense is designed to not set your house alarm off if you have a dog or cat but will trigger with humans. It works best because coons, rabbits and such don't call you out for nothing.

When the IR sensor does trigger it throws a double pole relay on the right hand circut bord that powers up the radio and the (radio shack) digital voice recorder, playing back and transmitting a prerecorded message. The only thing that is powered up all the time is the sensor that only draws 20mA so it can go weeks without needing to be charged.
