I finished making my adjustable FEL grab hooks and gave them their first workout on moving a 300# weld table. Worked wonderfully on that load. What I wanted was a hook system to be installed on the FEL lip that could be adjustable or removed if necessary.

I started off with a flat 1/4" bar with studs welded in to hold an angle retaining bar. This angle clamps up against the hooks and holds them firm against the lip. I made three hooks from 10,000 rated tow hooks.

Here is the install

Looks great, nice work and neat. 1 ?, well they lock themself up if you get a little side ways pull?

Very nice work.

Really like how you can adjust them.

Can they be removed completely if needed? Do they rattle without a load?

Looks like you can loosen 3 bolts and move the bar backwards to release the tension on all the hooks. Then you can move or remove the hooks.

There is no rattles and they can be removed as the gentleman described, three 9/16" wrenched nuts. They lock into place using those 1" solid bars under that lip.

I working on a set of forks now. I'll keep you posted.:)

That looks like a slick idea, any idea of what the added weight is? I am guessing 10-15 lbs.

They picked up a 200+ weld table and did not budge.

I just got through mounting one of those exact same hooks on my bucket. I only put one hook on and mounted it in the center on a very robust piece of angle iron. One thing I did do was weld the holes in the hook closed and then used a flapdisk to grind them smooth. This will keep standing water out of the holes.

Primer only, not yet painted.

So Guys......... Which is better ......... the open hooks or the ones that are narrow that are made for chains to hook into ?

I use a 3/8" logging hook centered on my bucket. I like it because it stops the chain from sliding in the hook if the load is not perfectly balanced. The link slides right into the hook and you are ready to go.

With the way these hooks are, it seems you would be able to slide the link over the hook rather than in it. Each way works, depends on what you want.

Looks good!!

Here is the setup I run.... It is for my pallet forks but works great for moving stuff. They are welded and braced (not shown due to snow on bucket)
