I flew it a couple times yesterday and I got more comfortable each time. I need to figure out all the features it has, but for now, I can take off, land and take video of what I'm seeing.

The biggest surprise is how quiet it is. Just 20 feet away and you can't hear it. The only time I hear it is when it's directly overhead, and when it's landing.

The screen on the control is super clear, bright and just amazing. I did get far enough away that it lost the ability to send a good signal from the drone to the controller, but when I went higher, the signal came back.

I need to practice more. I get the left and right turn mixed up with flying left and right.

It came with three batteries. They seem to last a very long time. I can cover my 68 acres in minutes. What really surprised me is how different it looks from up there. My land is a lot thicker then I realized!!!

When the first battery died, it gave me a warning, and then it went back to "Home" on it's own. I put in the second battery, and flew around some more, but didn't run it long enough to use up all of the battery.

My horses and goats ignored it. The ducks reacted a little at first, but then ignored it. I could get closer to them, but there isn't any need.

My biggest challenge right now is getting the video from the SD Micro Card from my video files, to my editing software. I've been using Clipchamp from Microsoft because it's free and it's already on my computer. It just keeps buffering when I try to watch them on the editing software. Then it wants to refresh, and then it does it all over again.

I found when flying things are approching me...I turned my back to them...swivel my head...and get the comfort level back at the controls

I think I need a new computer. I'm not going to do that, but the problem seems to be that I don't have enough power to watch the video's without buffering, which makes me think that the resolution is higher then what I need it to be.

I need to figure out how to change the resolution on the drone so I can work with it in my editing program. I'm guessing that I filmed everything in 4K, and that's just too much.

Does anybody know what the resolution is when filming on an Apple 13 phone? That's what I've been using with good results.

I find that recording several shorter videos can be better than one long video. It makes it easier to download and edit.

And, sometimes a picture can be just as good as a video. And a picture is much easier to work with.

If you have the DJI app on your phone, there is a feature to easily download to your phone. Thats what I do most of the time. And you can probably do a little bit of editing on your phone.

It's a lot easier for me to go from my phone to TBN or social media, than to get it from the DJI to my computer then to social media, but I can not do as much editing from my phone.

One thing to remember is that you cannot post a video directly to TBN. You must post the video to YouTube or something similar, then post a link to it here, whereas you can post a picture directly to TBN

Controller to drone connectivity requires line of sight. So make sure not to fly where you lose line of sight.

I was standing on the side of my house, I flew over the house, over a bunch of trees, several feet away, then down to my big pond when I lost the connection to see live video on the screen. It started to pixilate, then the picture froze. As soon as I went higher, the video feed returned.

I'm not sure what the signal will go through, or how much farther it will go if I my house isn't in the way, but I'm going to figure that out pretty soon.

I think that if I'm out in the middle of an open field, I should be able to get video through my trees, at least to my property line.

I read on the DJI Forum how to lower the resolution when filming. Everything is on the screen. I just need to explore all the options that it has and decide what resolution is best.

Is there an ideal resolution that I should try?

@EddieWalker rather than trying to view the video from the SDcard directly, you might try moving the file to your main drive first to see if that helps you.

An iPhone 13 can do up to 4k@60fps HDR video.

If you do decide to buy a new computer, I would try to get one with a (large) solid state drive, and as much RAM as you can talk yourself into.

What computer and configuration do you have now? If you have Windows, you might also consider Apple computers, which I think do a much better job out of the box with video. I think that MS windows settings and configuration can be tweaked into better performance with large files and video, but there are a variety of system settings that benefit large file and video performance that can be hard to find and adjust, but perhaps that's just me.

In my experience, video editing is quite memory intensive, as well as being CPU/GPU intensive, and there is a huge range in performance differences between different software programs. I would read a few reliable reviews (careful! I think that there are so many AI/decoy reviews these days!) and then decide on the software first and the hardware second.

All the best,

Peter

Really good advice and this makes a *huge* difference in playback. This, on its own, might fix everything.

Also, you can easily investigate your existing computer to see if it is capable of accepting additional RAM memory modules, or if it will accept higher capacity memory modules in place of what is there now. Your computer should tell you how much memory it has. If you look up by model number you can find what the maximum memory capacity is.

A fairly inexpensive memory upgrade for your computer might be all that you need to make a bid difference. In most cases it is as simple as removing the cover from the computer and snapping in a new or additional memory module.

Beware of two simple issues if you do this upgrade-- 1) purchase the correct memory for your specific computer, and 2) be careful with static electricity. Memory "chips" and modules are static electricity sensitive. Even walking across a carpet can create static electricity harmful to memory modules. You can easily look up some simple precautions to make sure your memory upgrade is a success. A real simple thing is make sure you are well grounded when opening a computer or memory module package.
