toddler what dealership did you get a price from? I think for the DK-45 SE HYD with loader and backhoe would run around 28,400. I feel you could get it for around 28,000 or 27,500 If you really push. But for 1,000 more if feel it makes more sense to go with the 45, but i have read post where guys said the 4o was smoother running. Im going to check them both out when I'm ready to pull the trigger and see if i like one more then the other and also price. Good luck

I got the DK40/45 quotes from my local dealer 30 minutes drive away. I didn't ask about the backhoe attachment, but since it's the same backhoe for both, I guess it'd still be a 1k difference in price from them with the backhoe.

Where are you located.

Sorry for the long delay, but I do not come to this site every night. i know, I probably should, but I like to play online poker a little too.

FYI - Weldon equip over by State College PA is where I bought my tractor at. Honest guy, friendly, personable, and knows a thing or two, free delivery and set up. I believe that Wallace tractors (supports this site) is in PA, and another supporter of this site I think Messicks in E-town (by harrisburg) but I don't know if they sell Kioti or not.

Don't be surprised if you have some PM from some dealers. They have to make a living, and they do support the site as well as dispensing "pearls of wisdom".

Other than that, I am not sure who else to look at. I will tell you that if you are looking to get used, there is an equipment auction about every two months down by York, PA, and that guy sells tons of tractors (used). I bought some stuff there.

PA HAYSEED, Thanks for the info. When I'm ready to pull the trigger I will probably go to the dealer within a 200 miles that gives me the best price I do like buying out of state since you don't have to pay sales tax. My last tractor a farmtrac 360dtc i got from Cuba new York about 5 hours away. I saved a lot of money and I didn't have to pay sales tax.

Not to start anything here but how would you like to be the local dealer who had to service and warranty your tractor you bought out of state because you saved on sales tax?I like to support my local dealer when buying a tractor.coobie

I'm late to this conversation. For me the DK40se was as much power as I needed. In fact I would have bought the DK35se if I could have gotten the KL401 loader with it (though I've learned since then there are some more important differences besides horsepower and loader between the DK35se and the 40/45se).

I have found the 40se has more power than I can put to the ground. I routinely spin all four wheels when pushing or pulling with the grapple. That is partly because I haven't loaded the tires yet (will do) and partly because I am using R4s. I find I have plenty of PTO power for a 75" flail. The 45 does have 4 extra HP and I suppose for some uses that could come in handy.

As BTI and others have already noted, the 40 and 45se are pretty much twins. For my purposes the extra grand for the 45 was put towards the Woods BH90x instead of the BH80x but for someone else the 45 might make more sense.

Whichever you get, make sure you load the tires.

After reading the post i think i will go with the 40. I was worried about the width but was told they are the same it was a typo era on kioti web site. Also found out they have the same ground clearance.

Coobie,
Its not that I don稚 want to support local dealer, and I知 not going to compare apples to apples but every vehicle I have purchased I always got the same old story 努e have the best service 釘ut are service department is the best? Well I don稚 believe in serveice every truck I had to take back for service was a battle. I was told there was nothing wrong or that痴 not covered under warranty. So today when they tell me about there service I just laugh at them. My last ford truck I had was a 2004 F-350 6.0 powerstroke I had to have 3 rear main seals replaced, injectors replaced, ball joint痴 at 17,000 replaced the truck was failing apart but the dealers did not want to deal with it. I had a 1998 five-speed manual mustang gt that was brand new. I went to back out of my driveway one day it got stuck in reverse and would not come out. My buddy and I tried as hard as we could to get it out of resvsver, but no luck. So the dealer came and got it. Well they replaced the transmission and a few days later I was driving and heard loud noise when going over bumps. So I took it back to the dealership. They said I was hearing my aftermarket exhaust flopping around. Later that day I looked under the car and could not believe what I seen. My drive shaft yoke put a hole in the floor from smashing up into it. The dealer said they did not see that but was quick to blame it on other things to get out of the work. In the end they torque one side of the trans up to it put it on an angle causing it to hit. So its not that I don稚 support local dealer, but when it comes down to it service means nothing to me and I would rather save the money.

I know the point you are tying to make and I tend to agree in most cases. That said, in the case of my DK45 I would prefer to load it on a trailer and hump the four hours to Rick's place. In other words, my local dealer "ain't really firing on all cylinders" . . . .

I have was always taught that time was money in business. In the IT world from my father and in farming and logging from my two uncles and grandfather. Somehow that theory escaped my local dealership. On the other hand, maybe that doesn't apply to the hobby farmer . . .
