Oil & Fuel DK 45s Diesel tank capacity?

For Gustimating fuel capacity from the gauge, I would propose to use a dip stick of some kind to get an estimate of how much liquid is remaining. Note the depth, fuel gauge reading and if you add a known quanitity of fuel back, note the new level. Goes without saying....be Careful not to run it out...

Before long you can have a good idea of fuel remaining and how much required to fill up. The problem is with odd shaped tanks, gauge scaling, etc... Had an old Monte Carlo, that would go 200 miles from full to half a tank and only about 50 from there to EMPTY... Not exactly a linear relationship.

I was going to measure mine but the tank is odd shaped, has some indentations and is not a perfect rectangle.

Folks, I do not have a tractor yet -- want one -- and it may well be any color of the rainbow when I actually get one.

It might be that Kioti has changed fuel tank sizes at least once during the production run? Anyway, if I needed to know for sure how much my fuel tank holds, I would siphon all the diesel out of the tank and add it back in one 5-gallon can at a time (or whatever known container sizes I had available).

Of course, this would be a lot easier if you had a thirsty diesel truck to siphon the tractor diesel into so you could put pump-measured fresh back in.

Since last Wednesday I have put 11 hours on my DK45S. It was full when I got it and last night it read 1/2 a tank. I went and bought 7-1/2 gallons and it only took 7 to fill it back up. And I mean it is full right to the top. Seems my guage is working fine and the big 45 sips fuel at a modest rate. I really though it would burn more. I'm happy.

That's something I agree with, the tractor seems to be very thrifty with fuel. I wonder how much more the DK55 uses?

I know my DX 65 C has twin tanks. Its seems to take a while to equilize when filling. Also riding on unlevel ground gives me a false reading on the gauge.

mine took over 17 gallons at the diesel pump, but it's a DK65. Speaking of sipping fuel, that was 32 hours since it was filled up, with the A.C. on the whole time. OK, most of the work was at idle, moving and pulling down trees in tight quarters. It doesn't need to go out of idle for more than a few seconds to pull down a big tree, most of the time is positioning, stacking, dragging chains through poison ivy, etc. Plowing or mowing heavy foliage for 32 hours would use a lot more fuel, I'm sure.
