Yep, I'm a skeptic. I do not believe you can get a non-used DX45 with LX116 loader for $21,000. I don't even believe you can get a DX40 for that price. I'm taking a completely Missouri attitude and say if you scan that quote (i.e., Show me.) I'll believe it. If you take delivery, I'll not only believe it, but I'll be amazed.

Even the cheapest internet offer would put the tractor alone at that price. In your first post you mentioned a loader. In your last post you did not. Was your quote including the loader?

Honest, I'm trying not to doubt you, but these prices are not credible based on what I know. I think your dealer would actually be losing money at that price. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

New England can yield different pricing however this past spring I purchased a new left over (2003 old style front lights) New Holland TC40D which I believe is the same as the Case DX-40. My price sheet shows the following;
TC40D - 18000
16LA - 4000
758C - 7000
The 84" belly mower would not work with the subframe backhoe mounts so I purchased a used 84"RFM for 1,000. Total price out the door was 30,000. The 84" belly mower and mid PTO would have added an additional 4,000. It is possible that the tractor you are pricing may be a leftover, but if it is a 2004 - those are some super prices. Also, the more implements you buy at the time of the tractor sale the greater the discount. Hope this helps.

Those are really good prices. Corriher sells the NH version specs out the Hydro TC40 with 16la at 20,900 and the Hydro TC45 with 16la at 22,900.

I've heard that sometimes dealers will have lower prices, but they are usually very competitive.

Cushing? Wow, Why did the meat store close? I loved that place. We're like neighbors, I'm from G-burg. Did you get a quote from the dealer in SCF? Sounds like Yarbro found a much better deal, if it turns out to be real. Sometimes there is miscomunication on pricing untill it comes time to write the check. I wonder if this is one of those situations?

Jim,

I agree because the MSRPs on a DX40 and DX45 (both with R4s, triple remotes & no draft control) are:

DX40 with QA loader: $26.4K
DX45 with QA loader: $29.4K

To get those prices, the dealer would be selling below cost.

I think the only confusion is the difference between FEL and non-FEL prices. With the FEL, a DX45 is 24,500. So a non-FEL price of 21,500 is pretty consistent with what I recall the loader going for.

Woodlot, the dealer that quoted me is in Nowthen, MN. I haven't been to the dealer in St. Croix falls, but I'd like to, since they carry both Case and NH. I know I'll end up with one or the other. Since they are basically he same machine, it's a question of price and color. I like blue, but the red is pretty snazzy too. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The red paint is also good for an extra 1.25 hp, and gives the red machines about 4% more structural rigidity over the blue painted machines. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here is what the Connecticut Case IH dealer quoted me for my DX45.

DX45 HST w/ Loader / grill gaurd $23,900.00
Bradco 509 w/ Bucket & Flip Pads $ 8,000.00
Triple Rear Remotes $ 672.00
Rimguard Tire Ballast $ 300.00
FOPS Canopy $ 550.00
Front Aux HYD. $ 600.00
Total $34,022.00

This was quoe in August. The steel surcharge percentage is diffrent at this time and willbe an additional cost. Hope this helps.

I am in the process of getting a DX35 or DX40 and have the following comments:

Everyone talks about the 5 hp gain, hydraulic system improvements, etc. associated with the move to the 4 banger. In my test demo on my property today, I had the wheels spinning on the D35 freely enough on a few occasions. This loss of traction is used by some as a vindication that the 3 cylinder 35 is enough. However, what I have not heard discussed is the matter of inertia gained by the additional cylinder, corresponding torque and torque rise when the tractor is lugged down while having adequate traction to keep the wheels from spinning.

In almost any other diesel engine arena, it is not the HP that an engine produces that gets the most notice, it is the torque and its curve over the RPM range of the engine that does. However, as all PTO implements have HP requirements, the HP to the shaft seems to be the bulk of what people are concerned with.

In my application, it is much more important to me how much umph I have pulling than the PTO HP delivered to the shaft on the occasions that I am using it. I will be moving items, dragging stuff, etc., much more than I am running implements on the shaft. For this reason alone, I am definitely going to opt for the 4 cylinder as I believe that if a dyno chart were available for the 4 banger, it would show a considerable amount of torque differential over the 3. Do not get me wrong, I was VERY impressed with the results of the demo today on the 35, but I just believe, as others have noted, the additional outlay for the 4 cylinder is not that significant over the life of the tractor. Additionally, I think that if I would have had the 4 banger today, I could have overcome a couple of test scenarios that lugged the engine down without spinning out--in some cases, an operations might be possible in a higher gear.

On another note, the other topic of this thread relates to pricing. Here are some posted, pre-dicker pricing from my dealer on their DX's, as I have noticed that the blue color adds some $$ for some reason. This pricing came in less than even the blue prices out in NC--before the shipping to Dallas.

D35 4WD SSS R4 $13,595
DX35 Hydro R4 $15795

D40 4WD SSS R4 $14995
DX40 Hydro R4 $16995

D45 4WD SSS R4 $16595
DX45 Hydro R4 $18795
