Backhoe DK45SE backhoe question.....

I have a new DK45SE with a 2485 backhoe. The backhoe is subframe attached. The dealer said he didn't have a top link long enough to run to the backhoe (from 3pt top) so it doesn't have one on it. He said it wasn't necessary. My question is, do any of you with a subframe backhoe use the top link? Is it necessary or not? Seems to me that it would add just a little more support and since it has a bracket on the backhoe for the link I would think they meant for one to be there.

Here is a photo of the KB2475, which is similar to the 2485. You are
supposed to use the factory-supplied stiffened toplink, yes! Often it is
not installed when displayed by the dealer, but it is needed. The KB24xx
hoes have numerous improvements over the KB23xx hoes, but they have
yet to go to the superior 4-pt mounts as seen on other modern hoe
attachements.

If you do try using your hoe without the toplink, make a note of how much
flex you get in the subframe. What does your manual say?

KIOTI issued a Service Bulletin last year advising dealers that the Tractor Top Link is NOT to be used with the backhoe. The backhoe subframe is designed to distribute the load the the tractor frame.

KIOTI does not want the tractor top link attached with the backhoe.

Okay, I'm really confused now dfkrug above says use it, you say do NOT, my dealer said it's not necessary, the owners manuel does not mention it, however one diagram does show a top link attached yet another shows no top link.

The explaination from KIOTI is that the subframe is designed to carry the backhoe reactions to the tractor. Attaching the top link puts stress in the rear axle housing and bell housing. Let the subframe do it's job.

Same reason why 3-point mounted backhoes are a bad idea for CUTS. The backhoe puts tremedous tension on the top link. There are plenty of horror stories about 3-point mounted backhoes.

I could see where the top link might help during transport. But then I'd probably forget to take it off and break something.

The best way to transport the Backhoe is with the boom on the trailer bed. Remove the boom lock pin and lay the boom down. That way there isn't any impact load on the tractor or frame when you bounce down the highway.
