DK50c Question?

Great, great information. Thanks to all. It's all so confusing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The DK65 price was without cab. Tractor and FEL only. Of course, they don't offer but three or four options for the whole tractor because they include everything the others charge as line item options.

The only option I'm adding to the M6800 is Hydraulic Shuttle (I'm pricing the M6800HD which has the hydraulic shuttle as standard. The regular M6800 does not have the hydraulic shuttle as standard. So, the bottom line is that the Hydrualic Shuttle will run you an extra $1300 whether you want to call it an option or a different model number tractor???).

As for the engine and pto HP. The difference is right at 7HP, but, the Kubota is rated at 2600 rpm where the Kioti is rated at 2250 rpm as another poster pointed out. If I run the Kioti at 2600 rpm, is that going to add HP to the engine and pto?? Would it be a bad thing to run it over rated rpm?? Any damage to the engine by doing that??

That DK65 weight of 6565lbs is going to be hell to pull with my 1/2 ton Chevy and 7000GVWR trailer, especially when you add the loader and another implement such as bush hog. Another slight advantage for the Kubota.

After looking at everything, I have to agree that the Kioti DK65 is more tractor for less money. From a distance, it would be hard to tell the two apart being orange and all (hence the reason for the lawsuit /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif).

To add more difficulty, the Kubota special finance offers ends on Aug. 31st I believe where the Kioti special finance offer ends Sept. 30th. The Kubota dealer that I have dealt with over the last 2 years does not have an M6800HD in stock, so he's trying to locate one. If he has much difficulty finding a tractor and can't get a deal done before the 31st, it may be a sign from above that the Kioti DK65 is the way to go eventhough there isn't a dealer within 2 hours towing time to my future residence.....

Are you serious about trying to tow either one of these tractors with a 1/2 ton truck and a trailer that has a 7,000 lb. GVWR? Even considering the lighter Kubota, when you factor just one implement AND the weight of the FEL AND the weight of the trailer, I can't believe that you'd be within towing specs. of that 1/2 ton. You've got to be coming close to the 7,000 lbs. without the trailer, aren't you?

I hope I'm missing something here, but it's hard to believe that a 1/2 ton could handle this load. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Am I missing something?

Golf,

I am serious.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif With the weight distributed properly on the trailer, the truck won't have much problem pulling it. The trailer breaks help for safety reasons. The Vortec 5300 puts out the power.

The problem is being overweight and getting a ticket. I will have a need to tow the tractor between 20 to 40 miles one way when using it to help others. Of course, I would love to buy a 3/4 ton diesel, borrow the brothers 3/4 ton V10, or use the old Ford, gas engine, 5 miles to the gallon, one ton dually with gooseneck trailer, but for ease of use and comfort, I bought the 7,000GVWR trailer with brakes to hook behind the Chevy.

   / DK50c Question? #24
You will really need atleast a 10,000 lb capacity trailer or a 12,000 lb would be even better. A 3/4 ton truck would also be better.

   / DK50c Question? #25
Yep, either tractor you choose is going to be pushing that trailer load. I would say, in general, that 7000GVWR is only going to be GOOD for about 5,000 pounds of payload. I sure wouldn't want to be dragging that behind me with an implement on the back and the FEL (nearly 1000#?).
Sure, the truck's engine will probably pull it, but how is it geared, and what would be the weight rating on the hitch, and for truck, trailer and payload? Not good.
At the least, trade up to two axles 5K, and as already said, 12K total is better yet.
As for the choice between the two, (I'm so tired I can't remember if the M6800HD was a Cab), if it's a cab and that earlier price is what they want, go for the Kubota. Cab better than no cab at that price. I drove a DK65 without cab today at my dealer's. It IS a fantastic piece and the loader was awesome. I could easily give up a HD shuttle for all that's wonderful on the DK65, but I have suspicion you really want the Kubota, and if so, that's WHAT YOU SHOULD BUY. John

John,

No cab on the M6800. Dealer finally had one arrive today. Final price is $28,900 which is a little more than he quoted me a couple of months ago.

I'm driving down to a Kioti dealership in Carthage, TX tomorrow to check out the DK55 and DK65. The DK55 quote came back at $22,500 with FEL, but no Quick Tach bucket. I can always add the QT plate later. I'll post pictures when I finally get one of these. Thanks.

Just don't forget if you add the QT plate later the bucket will need to be altered or replaced for the QT to hook on..

Wow!!! I didn't realize the Kubota was that light!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I now know why it would only have a 6' bucket. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Get the quick attach now, not later!

I agree that adding the quick tach now would be best. No need to buy and convert standard equipment later. Especially if you're financing, it will be spread out over time and won't be such a jolt to your finances. That DK65 I tried was sure a big mule. I felt as though I was riding on top of a small moving house! Good luck in your search. John

Guys, again, thanks for the replies. This board is really cool. I feel like I'm chatting with people that know what they are talking about. I have put a lot of weight to all of these opinions and feel like I've made the right decision for my situation.

I drove to Carthage, TX to the nearest Kioti dealership. Small dealer that has been in business for 30 years. When I got there, he had one Kioti DK55 in stock with the FEL and Industrial Tires. The bucket is not Quick Tach and he had no other loaders in stock for this tractor. I drove the tractor around the place for awhile, moved some dirt around, tested the gearing and shuttle. I was very impressed. All of the gear shifters, levers, and loader control were laid out nicely. I believe this tractor, with all of it's nicely equipped options, will do what I need for a long time. I signed the finance papers and will know tomorrow morning if she is mine.

I did want the QT bucket, but I don't have any other attachments at the moment. So, I decided I could live with the standard bucket, eventhough, making the QT modifications later will be a hassle. Also, the tractor has the more expensive industrial tires installed. The dealer didn't have any other tires there and told me that Kioti is having a time with their tires/wheels right now.

This tractor ended up at $22,900 with the industrial tires and an orange metal canopy thrown in. I should know something in the morning around 10:00.

The only thing I found on the tractor that I didn't care for was the seat. This thing offers very, very little cushion beyond the foam pad on the seat itself. Does anyone else feel this way about the DK?? Are there any seats out there with suspension that will attach directly to the mounting plate without modifications??

As for the Kubota M6800, the lowest quote I received on this tractor was $28,200 from Deen Implement. I drove to the Forney location Thursday and they didn't have one in stock. I've read that they offer about the best deals around NE Texas and I'm sure they are great to deal with. If I decided to go with the Kubota, I would have purchased from Farm Country in Sulphur Springs for the extra $700 because they have been a wonderful dealership to work with since I've owned the B7500. I chose the Kioti in Carthage because it's the nearest Kioti dealership to Texarkana and Mr. Andersen, the owner, was a good guy. I just couldn't justify the extra $6,000 dollars for the M.

I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

Well, I wish you all the best. Hopefully you will be giving that DK55 a new home! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I think the DK55 is one of the best looking CUTs out there. Now, if Kioti would put a curved loader on and make all the DK series like the DK55, then they's have some real winners on their hands! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Congratulations. You can buy a lot of implements with the 6K you saved. Post pictures as soon as you can.

   / DK50c Question? #34
I'm actually elated for you. I've been looking at the DK45C lately, well my dealer only has the one without the cab right now, but I'm either going to add the 45 or maybe a 55C myself.
It seems to me that the dealer needs to throw in something for you since he can't seem to get you a quick tach loader. After all, they are available, he just doesn't have one! If you get approved, I'd ask him to throw in a tooth bar or something as you're not getting what you really want. Just a thought. Congratulations and I know you're going to have a great time on that tractor. John

Well, fellows, I picked up the DK55 yesterday. Was able to see what it would do yesterday for a few hours. All I can say is that this is one awesome, awesome machine. Good, strong Front End Loader (standard self-leveling is just nice). I love the layout of the gear shifters. Changing 1-4 is on the right, next to your knee. Forward/Reverse shuttle is on the left, next to the left knee. The 4wd shifter is on the left as well as the H-M-L range shifter. It's absolutely a breeze to press the clutch and shuttle from forward to reverse or vice versa. I'm not sure I would like the hydraulic clutchless shuttle any better?? Engine purrs like a kitten. The rear 3-pt control came in handy when I hooked up the first implement :).

I told the dealer that I had to have the Quick Tach so he's letting me use the standard bucket until the Quick Tach plate and bucket comes in. That's good enough for me. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm headed out to the land now to take some pictures. Should be able to post tomorrow.....

Good for you! It's always just better to get what you want and not settle for only what they have. I know I don't have to tell you to ENJOY! John

Yes, the kind that all people should be able to do.
Getting on that DK55 is like having a building to drive around on isn't it? I loved the way it felt on that model and the 65 without cab. Powerful and easily handled. Thanks for the pictures, but you know you'll have to get some in the daylight right? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif John
