2010 Kioti DK50SE HST w/ 401 Loader
Hey all, so heres my first problem w/ my DK50hst. I got rougly 108hr on it. It was acting a little funny on starts up in the fall had to turn key on 2 times to start. Now today i go to start it and nothing. Left the Glow Plug cycle threw and then turn key to start and nothing. All the dash lights come on and just does not turn over or anything. I probably havn't started it for about as month or so. Any idea's where to start? I was thinkin maybe i just need to check the wire harness for the glow plugs or something like I saw somewhere on another post about them working loose? Maybe a bad switch i duno. I just bought tractor in Spring of 2011 so should i just take back to the Dealer for warranty?

If the engine won't crank over, could there be a problem with the gear selection lever? Does it show that it is in neutral? Mine will sometimes still show that it is in gear when shifted to neutral. It won't engage the starter if it thinks the transmision is in gear. If it is not something simple I would give the dealer a guick call. Good luck.

Since all the dash lights are coming on I'd check these things first:
-Make sure you didn't leave the PTO switch on and gear selector it is in Neutral.
-If you were doing any grubbing, look under the tractor for a disconnected plug.

Clean your terminals and the ground point, then hook up some jumper cables if it still won't turn over. These tractors are very sensitive to dirty or loose connections. Usually this problem shows up as everything dead, even the dash lights.

Make sure PTO switches are off and shift between the 2 separate neutral positions and try to start in either one. If its an open cab, there should be a seat safety switch also. Make sure there isnt a nest underthere or something preventing contact with the switch.

check ALL fuses

Got it started last night. I tried manually holding glow plugs on for a few seconds. Tried few times and nothing. Then i tried just turning key real quick whole way to start position and it fired right up.

Does this mean glow plow aren't working or maybe ignition swith is going bad?

If you have an open cab tractor that sits out in the whether... i hear there's a BIG problem with the ignition switches with these units being heather damaged. The cab units do not have these problems.

Mine stays in the pole barn all closed up lol. Although i bought it as a Demo w/ 42 hrs on it so it would of sat outside for a few months or maybe even a year at the dealership i guess. How big of a deal is it to replace that or should i just haul it to the dealer where i got it? It's a good 45min drive not hauling. Plus i get about 10mpg in my lifted diesel lol.

if its under warranty id haul it in to the dealer...... the switch isnt cheap. I hear its easy to install.

ut it might not be that. They can check glow plugs, etc.

it is still under warranty right??

My dealer actually came to my place to fix some small issues at no charge to me.

Ok yea it should be under warranty right? I just bought it last spring so i havn't had it for even a full year yet and he told me even being a demo i had full factory warranty from time of sale.

I will be making a phone call to my dealer tomorrow hopfully.

Talk to dealer they said it's more then likely the Switch. Sounds pretty common like you all were saying. He said i can bring it up and they will do it on the spot only take like 10 mins that i could just wait on it. So i'm considering just doing it myself rather then a total of an hour and half drive time plus diesel fuel and wear and tear on my new 7.3L motor rebuild up and down the hills. Sounds like my buddy and i can handle it. If it's not that they said just bring switch back and tractor and they can figure it out. Was like 75-100 bucks for them so come out and service it at my place. All covered under warranty though.

Thanks all for the help. Let you all know how it goes this weekend.

The switch is about $50, I think. Pretty easy to replace bu removing the lower right panel (below instr panel) bur it'll take more than 10 minutes (maybe an hour) if you haven't been inside that area before.

My 2005 CK30HST ignition switch took a dump at relatively low hours yielding a no crank situation. The best I could tell when I disassembled bad switch and yanked it apart was the funky grease they used in manufacture cooked in a way that appeared to prevent electricity passing- it looked to be an excellent insulator goo! Piece of cake to change switch.
