We have a homeless population here as well. It really gets you thinking how these situations get started in the first place. We can't just keep chasing them off, as they just go somewhere else, and the root of the problems aren't addressed.

We have many social service agencies here, shelters, food bank, programs, etc... all I can suggest is getting involved at your local level.

The topic will shift to political discussion and that needs to go to TNT.

Our local 20 year beat officer who was always most responsive is now charged for killing under a new law.

I saw him leave in a hurry answering a call at Walmart of a man threatening shoppers and staff... 40 seconds that changed his life forever and made news around the world...

Many of my LEO frends just want to reach retirement...

Why don't you rise up and throw off the yoke of oppression? Why do you keep doing the same thing and expect good results? You know what to do, so do it! Or do the criminals outnumber the good people in your area such that you cant get rid of the oppressor's?

As for the OP. Some do, some don't. I guess it depends on their mental disposition and how much they have to loose (or gain) if caught.

Being in the security business for thirty or more years, I can tell you this. Unless you have a private security force, cameras should not be your first and certainly not your only line of defence.

Nice Sunday morning here... evidently too nice.

Lots of deliveries daily, Amazon, Post Office, FedEx, Contract Deliveries, etc...

Well, it happened again... Porch Pirates follow the trucks and snatched packages moments after they are placed... maybe a dozen in the neighborhood today 11 to noon this morning.

My car just happened to be in the mix... I was bringing in groceries and had to clean up a leaking carton... car was lock but windows down a little to keep the heat from building up...

A few minutes is all it took... found car doors all open... papers blowing in the wind and everything open... glove boxes, ashtrays, etc... the most valuable was my Stihl Blower with Battery which was too big to get through the seat... but, my Sunday Shoes and Running shoes in a paper bag on the floor behind the front seat and my electrical crimping set that was in the trunk gone.

Cameras up and down the neighborhood have the person on camera with date stamp plus the road cams...

Property theft is no longer prosecuted due to Covid except in unusual circumstances... guess the bad guys know it...

A good chance for an encounter... blind road with only one way out... maybe it is good I arrived after the deed was done?

Co Worker had the Suburban taking right from driveway Thursday... again all on Cam and reported...

That makes the second auto theft I know this week.

As I'm so fond of saying, most of today's major problems are big city problems. Sorry you were the victim, but you're lucky they didn't take a dump in the back seat, and leave a used syringe in the front seat.

Well, if we accept that as a society, then who do we have to blame? Maybe we need to vote for politicians that are hard on crime and easy on law abiding citizens.

It's almost like, you should be ASHAMED, if you even have anything to steal.
