Do Dealers run new Tractors

If I didn't have at least 3 or 4 hours on my tractor I would want to know why the dealer didn't do their job. Smaller dealers won't have the pressure testing equipment or dyno's to test them.

Interesting point. I hadn't thought of dyno testing, since none of the dealers for the brands I considered were big enough to have one.

I also read the original post as asking about running them for hours upon receipt, not upon sale.

We run the small tractors a couple of hours to check them out. Unfortunately our dynometer doesn't work too well on tractors under 30 HP. The larger ag tractors are run on the dyno as part of the predelivery process. Every tractor that leaves the dealership will have from 2 to 5 hours minimum. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Last May, I had a choice of an unassembled with 0.3 hrs or an assembled with 4 hours. Of course I choose the 0.3 hours (had 0.5 when it arrived). Because it was assembled for me they had parts missing and other issues that took a month to resolve. They were nice about it and helped along the way.

My 2210 did arrive with loaded tires. One day I could see the level becaue the morning due settled on the filled areas and there was only a few gallons in there. I immediatly called my salesman and and he was going to have the tractor picked up for free the next day and have the job finished. So somebody there was very lazy and figured I would never know!

My JD. dealer runs them and operates to let things warm up and check for leaks or loose bolts etc. They also have a mechanic operate to find any potential adjustments in linkage or hyd. valves to prevent an early service call.

Hi

I noticed when my JD4310 arrived that it had paint on the bolts that lined up with a paint mark on the frame. That is so that as time goes by, you can see if they have become loose.

We run them and sell them with anywhere from 1 to 3 hours on them. We move our tractors in and out (bad weather they come in), allow customers to test drive them, rotate the stock etc.

Before we sell a tractor we have to check them out checking everything on the tractor. When we sell it we go over a pre delivery inspection with the new owner, the safe operation etc. of the tractor with the new owner and we sign it and the new owner signs it with the amount of time we spent with them on their new tractor.

Seeing a couple of hours on the tractor is a good thing.

Thanks,
Maka

My Mahindra had a few hours on it. After assembly they brake in the motor first. According to the manual that is full throtle for one hour. Then they 'road test' it. Road test is driving from the assemly plant to the storage lot, maybe 3/4 mile. Then drive it back when needed to ship.

The dealer checked everything out when they did there make ready.

Mine had that too. Nice feature. It also tells you that they torqued each bolt.
