Do Fence laws make sense?

It is another full blown bureaucracy in the making... hearings, review boards, tax returns... etc...

So far fencing and using it for grazing seems to be my best bet so far... this land is adjacent to my parents home and portions are already fenced...

What has me more worried is the support it garnered and now a full cheer section saying the voters are on board and there is so much more we can do...

Maybe it will be a return to property owner and tenant... but this time the tenants rule?
the government owns everything, including people, we only rent it at their whim, and they can take it all away if it suits them!.

Oakland California... the voters have spoken... actually all 6 new property tax measures passed...

I expect new year there will be a tax on money you have in the bank...

Oakland, California, Measure W, Vacant Property Tax (November 218) - Ballotpedia

Mapping Oakland's Vacant Parcels | Terner Center

I don't get California.
You would think that cities would encourage open space, not place extortionary taxes on it. What to they consider "used"? Would a vacation home that's only occupied a couple weeks a year be considered "vacant" by their definition?

You mentioned in another post that your parents sold some land to the city. Is this common out there? Never heard of it here...usually when a city/town gets private property it's due to seizure for unpaid taxes, and it generally gets sold at some point.

The real irony from this side of the continent is that Apple and a few other companies from Silicon Valley are buying up conservation rights here so that we can never have any kind of development; thus ensuring that the region stays poor.

First I've heard of that...if they're doing here in N.H. I'm unaware of it. What part of Maine are they doing this in and why?

If you're speaking of 'not getting' California one only has to research:
UN Agenda 21 and 2030 and sustainability.

I''l see myself out the door now, cause yah'll ain't gonnah like it.

Lets face it... schizophrenic aptly describes the situation...

Hundreds will turn out and rally to stop a development of residential zoned land with sewer in place saying we must stop paving over nature...

Hundreds of millions will be spent on loan guarantees to attract businesses that go bankrupt... yet, business that wants to relocate here must build a coalition and overcome tremendous obstacles with planning and zoning to open...

A dry cleaners goes dark because the owner cannot afford the upgrades... property sits vacant and then a coffee shop goes in and all He!! breaks loose because the area is gentrifying... their words not mine...

When asked... Gentrification is one of the biggest threats here... yet now the city is doing a full court press to force development?

Using your property less than 50 days a year equals vacant...

The 50 day rule came in because we have several Farmers Market Sites that would have been affected to as long as it can be proven used 50 days annually it will not be considered vacant...

Eminent Domain is how government acquires property... this is worse because instead of being compensated the owner has to pay....

Some have said this is really about money... isn't most everything? The unfunded public pensions the city owes are going to eat us alive...

Then again... all 6 property tax measures sailed right on through embolding the mayor and council saying the people have spoken loud and clear...

Right now the city cannot keep up with demand and the infrastructure is lacking to support ever increasing population...

I looking at fence options and not being able to use barb wire or electric is limiting...

My parents sold some land to the adjoining property owner... he had spent years working on a subdivision that met all requirements... the city finally said after 7 years they cannot stop it... this was 2008...

A bond measure was put on the ballot to protect property from development and one of parcels purchased with the bond money is the property my parents had owned... the outcry against the new homes was intense... meeting were held at the convention center to handle the crowds to protect open space...
