Tractor
2810 Branson
After nearly 2 years of looking at tractors, i finally have the house/propterty AND the money to go ahead. i did end up with more house (very nice) and less property (1.6acres) than i had in mind...my wife had a part to play /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i had pretty much decided on a 2810. went today to dealer who priced it at $14500 tract&ldr, $265 blade 6', 1450 FC finish mower 72". grand total: $17187. little more than my $15K budget plan. would asking $13K for tractor and $1K for mower -->total $15.1 be pushing it too far?

other options from same dealer:

1. new Kioti CK20 $12500 with loader. probably the size that fits my lot...although our property is on a dirt road with plenty of woods on the perimeter. just feel that tractor should be about 1/2 that price for the size of it. only $2.5K less than branson for a lot less tractor....looks like a riding lawn mower.

2. yanmar used 220D. $6950 with loader. guess it's not grey market. everything is in english and the model is only 3 numbers long not 4 like grey market yanmar. looks in good shape for its age. Ag tires....might be a bit hard on my new lawn. certainly not the nice new open platform like branson.

3. kioti 3054. with loader $9750. 135hrs. looks cosmetically a little bit rough.

what would you do????? my wife would have me go to home depot and get a little riding lawn mower /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif i plan to use the tractor for: mowing, plowing snow, keeping our limestone driveway in good shape, maybe boxblade for path between couple houses through the woods, and odd jobs that pop up.

help!!! i need advice

Have you seen what some members have accomplished with their CK20? It's a very capable tractor.

How about a little to much tractor is much better than not enough tractor.
Get what makes you happy and be done with it!
The 2810 is a nice tractor, all most bought one myself.
Ended up with a 3820 which had issues and now have a 4720.

Is there any chance that you will add to your property by buying adjacent properties when they come up for sale? I started with 2.8 acres almost 20 years ago, and just keep buying adjacent property when it comes up for sale, and am now up to 10.4 acres, and just this month bought the tractor.

Hi, you'll never know unless you ask and a stack of $100 bills can say alot and might be hard to turn down. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif $2k plus interrest over an expected 20 years is not really alot to consider. Or you can always get the tractor now and the mower later. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I agree with the other poster, go ahead and get it. I think that the 2810 is more than enough for that size property. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

well, i called and offered $13000 and was turned down. dealer said he didn't have any wiggle room from the quoted price. i just happened to try and call the only other dealer in michigan and he had a used branson with hardly any hours for just the right price.....

2810 should be delivered mon or tues /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

it's way big for 1.5acres but i like it and just couldn't pay $12,000+ for a subcompact that is the size of a garden tractor....right for some people, just not me.

i'm sure i'll have plenty of "how do i...." questions for all of you in the future.

Great news. What a relief when you find that good deal. I think you will be very happy with your choice and not regret getting the larger tractor. I agree with you 100% on your subcompact statement so you are not alone.. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Chances are the more you use the tractor, the smaller it will seem. I knew my 3510 was more than I needed when I purchased it two yrs. ago, but there are things I have done with it that I never even thought of two yrs. ago. Not to mention the stuff I do for the neighbors (for free)-- nice thing is we get "free" child care for those unplanned snow days. Fact is (like many have already stated) you might end up with more land - even if it isn't adjacent to your current property. Doesn't matter where you move/live, you can take your tractor with you. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Sounds good! I sat on and drove a 2810 recently. Nice features, nice price. The Branson dealer in Louisville is very price competitive. I thought the 2810 a bit large for my 5 acres, maybe not after all. I got a lower quote for a 2810 than I did for a 2615 Mahindra which I also like very much. The 2810 has the shifter at my right hand which seems natural. The down low fuel tank has got to be much easier to fill than high on the back behind the seat or up on the hood especially with a can. The shuttle is just too handy and I like the big open platform with the big thick rubber floor mat. Now that my house is FINALLY going up and I'll need to be mowing and doing landscaping work by spring I need to start moving toward a decision. I haven't posted much or done any more than lurk for some time now. I'd be interested to know how well your 2810 or anybody else's serves them.
