Re: DO I NEED A CHECK VALVE ON MY HYDRAULIC TOP LI

There's about an inch of drop/minute at the back end of the brushhog. I didn't measure it, but as I sat in the tractor seat, I could see it slowly dropping.
Do you have any check valves in your 3PH system? )</font>
Sorry it took me so long to respond. I was away from home for a couple of weeks, and I'm just catching up.
I do not have check valves on my TNT set-up. I get about an inch of drop in about15 minutes, measured at the rear of my brushhog from the hydraulic toplink leaking down. Since I generally don't use the toplink to support the mower when mowing, this hasn't been a problem (mower rests on the rear wheel). As fast as yours is dropping, you've definitely got some problem with the set-up. My guess is a leak in the system (any puddles or drips you can see?) or a bad seal in the cylinder.
It has been a pain in the neck on the side link. It leaks down and I forget to adjust it, then I'm mowing lopsided, and eventually dragging the side of the mower deck on the ground. If I had it to do over again, I'd get the cylinders with the check valves.
