Do I need a hitch that distribute. The load to keep my truck from sinking to much.

After looking at the pic, I don't think you're going to get that tractor with an implement on that trailer - not balanced, anyway. You need at least a 20-foot trailer. I also believe that the load is not within the tow specs of your pickup. Please check the rating on your hitch, also. Many factory hitches are only rated for 6,000 lbs even on vehicles rated to tow more than that.

You didn't mention your brake controller. Please invest in a proportional controller. It is one important key to towing safety. Google the difference between proportional controllers and time-delay controllers.

Better to ask than to get yourself in trouble.

Either way you still need a Weight Distribution Hitch.

If the truck and trailer are not up to the task you need to upgrade or forget towing it until you can afford to do so.

i load my trailers so that the bumper of the truck only drops down about an half to an . inch more than the trailer fenders go down. this i think gives you just about the right amount of tongue weight. has always worked for me, and i have towed a LOT of different weight things and trailers.

I have another question now how important is the 60 40 rule if I just add 2 feet and 2 feet for the dove tail?. Will that really matter for just 4 feet.

If you add 4' you'll probably be in the 50/50 range. Having a longer tail may cause the trailer tail to drag under certain driving conditions such as uneven terrain. You would also increase tail swing when going around corners. If adding 4' to the tail the axles should be moved to keep the 40/60 aspect.
It may be easier to sell your trailer and buy one the length you need.

Around here a solid used trailer will sell for a price very close to a new one. Good luck with the sale. Trailer prices are crazy high lately - like everything else.
