XT2s don't have a locking diff. I wish they did, cause my XT2 is nearly useless in the winter. If the OP is creating a 400 foot by 65 foot garden, I'm assuming they will have plots with in this and not some sort of single row crop. For this the best machine would be a walk behind, like a Gravely to work the individual spaces. OP mentioned two planned tasks, the initial garden area and the road. Both of these are one off tasks that are better to hire out. If there is also a house, what room is there left for using a compact tractor which will then have to be stored somewhere? Better answers would be forthcoming if we could see an over head pic of this property.
