Mahindra 4025
Just bought a new 2013 Mahindra 4025 - 2wd FEL. This is my first tractor and first diesel engine.

My main concern is keeping the fuel pump working as long as possible.
From what I have read the new low sulfur diesel does not have enough lubricity (sp) that is required by the fuel pump (Bosche).

Does this apply to the newer model tractors as well?
I would think the manufacturers would design the motors to work with the new diesel.

I've also read about adding the 2 cycle oil 1:200 ratio but still question if this applies to newer tractors.
Is the 2 cycle oil the wally brand Super Tech TC-W3 Outboard 2-Cycle Oil?

I am basically curios to see if anyone is doing this successfully?

Thanks in advance for any and all info.

Personally, I would add something for upper cylinder lubricity. I use Power Service myself.
ULSD was mandated by a bunch of bureaucrats who really don't care about the longevity of your tractor...so take care of yourself!

Ditto... I sometimes put a little Power Service [ standard black label stuff ] into my cans before I go fill them with diesel and store them in my barn/dump in one of the tractors. Not as much as I use to, but geez, it's a lot more expensive than it was ten years ago.... [ :) ]

I use two Glugs per 5 gallon can of Power Service White Jug.

Optimax XPD here, @ prescribed dosage.

Thank you fellas. I bought the Power Service stuff and it was not as expensive as I thought it was.
Hope it's not too strong on gaskets and such...

Would these treatments be used in place of Stabil, or in combination?

You don't need much per tank, so use it per the directions on the container.

I am not aware that Stabil has gotten into the diesel lubricity/cetane boost/water demulsification/pour point depressor additive market. Stabil has typically been in fuel stability only (anti-oxidation).

Diesel Fuel doesn't need any help with that. If you keep it too long you will absorb water from the air & grow microbes, some guys add a biocide for that.

So use a good quality diesel fuel supplement intended for diesel fuel specifically. In OK, I would think you really only need one for lubricity supplement, and not all the other stuff like us up here in the great white north need.

Good luck.

Well, this is what the package/ads say about Sta-Bil for Diesel.

DIESEL – Diesel Formula STA-BIL keeps diesel fuel fresh, promotes thermal oxidative stability, protects against corrosion and helps remove water from the fuel system to protect and preserve your diesel engine.
Prevents sludge and sediment formation
Cleans and lubricates fuel injectors to improve performance
Helps remove water that microbes and algae require for growth
Recommended for use at every fill up
Safe for all diesel fuels and all diesel engines, including agricultural and marine
32 oz Treats 320 gallons of diesel fuel
Diesel fuel systems and gasoline systems are designed differently, and require different additives. In addition, regulations issued by the EPA over the last few years have resulted in diesel fuel reformulations (to Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuels), creating a need for more specialized diesel specific additives. In 2010, we created a special Diesel Formula STA-BIL, designed specifically to address problems related to the new Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuels and new diesel engine technologies, including thermal oxidation (heating of fuel), sludge and sediment formation, corrosion, and lubricity issues. It also helps remove water from the fuel.
Diesel Formula STA-BIL® contains high levels of detergents and lubricity agents, and when used regularly, helps remove these sediments as well as any engine deposits that may have already formed, in addition to lubricating critical fuel system components to kepp your diesel engine running like new.
