Oil & Fuel Do new tractors need fuel additives for the low sulfur diesel?

Thank you fellas. I bought the Power Service stuff and it was not as expensive as I thought it was.
Hope it's not too strong on gaskets and such...

I also use Power Service. About twice a year, my local Discount Auto has it on sale, cheaper than TSC.

Thanks for update, Egbert - I don't recall seeing "Diesel Stabil Fuel Treatment" in our area. Perhaps this is new?

Just bought a new 2013 Mahindra 4025 - 2wd FEL. This is my first tractor and first diesel engine.

My main concern is keeping the fuel pump working as long as possible.
From what I have read the new low sulfur diesel does not have enough lubricity (sp) that is required by the fuel pump (Bosche).

Does this apply to the newer model tractors as well?
I would think the manufacturers would design the motors to work with the new diesel.

I've also read about adding the 2 cycle oil 1:200 ratio but still question if this applies to newer tractors.
Is the 2 cycle oil the wally brand Super Tech TC-W3 Outboard 2-Cycle Oil?

I am basically curios to see if anyone is doing this successfully?

Thanks in advance for any and all info.

One would hope the engine mfgrs would have redesigned their pumps to handle the new ULSD fuel but there would always be a question what has been done with the imports.

The mention of the TC-3W 2 cycle oil comes from the well publicized lubricity study that was done a few yrs back. Here's the link once again. Lubricity Additive Study Results - Diesel Place : Chevrolet and GMC Diesel Truck Forums
Out of about 20 different "additives" the 2 cycle oil came in 7th. You will note that Power Service Diesel Kleen came in 10th. Anything 13th or below showed no improvement and a number of additives made things worse.

I'm glad Mickey re-posted the link a lot of us have reviewed.

The trouble with low fuel lubricity in diesel engines is the injection pressure needed to combust well & lower exhaust emissions. Injection pressure is high, so better machine finish & lubricity are both required. Machine finishes are getting toward the best they can be, so all that is left is adding more lubricity back into the fuel.

On bigger engines, Bosch fuel injector tips are finished into sub-micron levels now.

Thank you yet again, EPA!

Our local injection pump rebuilder told me if everyone used a good additive he would be out of business.

Perhaps an additive is good for users that only use a few gallons per year and the tractors set around for months between tank refills. I don't know of any farmers who use thousands of gallons of fuel per year who add any thing to their diesel. My retired brother in law does maintenance for a super large farmer who last year was burning $100,000 of fuel per month. They don't add anything to it and he said they have never had a failure in fuel system. They put thousands of hours a year on each machine which is likely more than any 10 CUT owners will put on in a lifetime.
As I have said many time, put whatever in your fuel tank and oil reservoir that makes you rest easy at night.

that seems to make sense. I wish some of the dealers would chime ofn this and wonder what they tell customers when they sell a tractor.

I'm more interested in the stuff for anti-gel properties here in WI where temps are near or below 0 much of the winter.

I use Kleen-Flo for ULSD diesel. A couple of gulps per 5 gallon Jerry can in winter.

I use around 6 ounces of outboard motor oil per 10 gallons of fuel to compensate for the lack of sulfur. Cheaper than an injector pump.
