Do not fear R4\'s and MMM

Recently bought my 4410 and am loving it (pictures to follow).

I was concerned about how this tractor would mow with the R4's and the MMM vs the scag's that had mowed the property previously.

I am pleased to say that it mows beautifully and there are really no noticeable tread-marks from the R4's at all. I had considered getting turfs, but the R4's are absolutely fine for mowing (and much need for the stump pulling/digging and grading I have been doing).

Wanted to share that piece of insight with those of you considering what to add.

The only other comment is the MMM really needs taken off to do any serious FEL/BH work. Banged it good on a smaller stump due to lack of clearance, and now I take it off when I do that work. Take about 5 minutes, isn't easy like the FEL or BH but is pretty manageable.

Thanks for the insights - I didn't get a mower for mine, but it's good to know it works well as an option. One question, in the video that came with the tractor I believe they show the mower being installed while parked on a concrete floor. Would it be a lot harder to manuever into place on say... gravel or grass? My garage is too small to consider leaving a MMM in there and trying to install it.

You just need a relatively level surface, nothing magic about being on concrete.

Putting on and off not too hard, especially if you have a FEL which allows you to cheat the process a few steps (use the FEL to lift the front wheels means you dont have to remove the wheel on the MMM or the front draft pivot).

Means all you have to do to remove is 1-pull pins to turn rear wheels, 2-release the front pivot, 3-pull pins on 2 draft deck arms, 4-pull pins on 2 yokes, 5-remove pto. Pretty simple stuff, especially with a FEL.

Doing it on concrete or blacktop makes it easy to roll, any hard flat surface should be a help. I have the 60" 7 iron deck and it is heavy. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Not hard to remove though.

I also have to say I like the R4's, no problems with the turf except some really soft spots or turning with the 4 wheel drive engaged. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

i have found where my R4's leave a divot in the grass my boots would generally leave one there too. Note sure the turfs would be any different

The 4 wheel drive is such a great feature (flick of a switch) as is the loadmatch. Awesome engineering.

Been a wet spring here in ohio as well!!
