Do used truck prices jump in mid December?

I just bought a new F350 for $95,000. because I wasn't going to pay $60,000 for an eight year old truck with no warranty. This is the second time I've bought new because the used prices were crazy.
Apparently you dont hold the vehicles you buy, in high regard, if you think the depreciation should be more than 35.000 in 8 years. 🤪

My feeling is that the average 8 year old truck is half worn out, it will likely need immediate repairs or maintenance and doesn't come with any warranty. I hear of lots of repairs costing up to $20,000.00 for these diesels. I was going to make an offer of $50,000.00 for a 2017 model before the dealer told me that he had already sold it for the asking price of $60,000.00 This truck already had 125,000KM on it. The tires were more than 1/2 worn and the body had a few minor marks. My 1990 is now used only in the winter and has 446,000KM I paid $24,050.00 for it when I was unable to buy a 1988 model for $20,000.00 or less. The warranty in those days was one year and I got both a rebuilt differential and transmission as well as getting to pick all the options I wanted.

You can do a lot of repairs before you exceed 35.000

I'd rather take my chances by gambling on an expensive repair which has never come; when buying new, depreciation is certain.

Buying new for me depends on the class of vehicle. I wouldn’t buy a new $80K heavy duty truck, but a new car for $35K is fine.

Well everyone is different. My last car cost $51,500 and it was a year old.and my winter beater cost $35,000 when it was five years old. I tend to keep them forever and want something I enjoy driving rather than having transportation. There is nothing I'd want to own at $35,000.00 new.

My Ram dealer is also selling Ram Tradesman/Big Horn crew cabs with Cummins for 65-72K.

Those are the prices I saw 3+ years ago. Great time to buy a new truck with a 5yr/100K powertrain (not just diesel engine) warranty and 3/36 bumper-bumper warranty.
Updating my post, my son found a new 2024 Ram 3500 crewcab 4WD Tradesman with a towing & snow plowing package for $59,000. Has a 5 year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

Brother in Law was over for Christmas and mentioned they are wanting to unload a 5.9L Ram3500, 4x4, crew, with 5th wheel, for $10,000k. He did say it runs/drives, but has some "issues". The crazy part, I actually thought for a few seconds, maybe I should. Truck prices are crazy when you actually consider a blind "issues" truck at $10k...

I have seen the truck but it's been 4 years ago or so, and I thought it was a 2 for, 2wd; but apparently it is a full crew, 8 ft bed, auto.
