Do you ever remove your loader?

In the year I have had my 4210, I have removed and reinstalled the loader several times, it comes off for mowing purposes which is 90% of my operating hours, from late fall to late spring it stays on all the time. JD makes it so simple to remove and reinstall it I can't understand why anyone would leave theirs on if it's not needed. And how do the 4000-Ten owners manage to change their oil filter without removing the loader?

90% of my work in the summer is mowing. The loader is removed everytime I mow, re-installed when I'm done 5 mins or less for each. I don't want to leave it outside or I'd leave it off all sumer.

I never take mine off either - my mowing doesn't require the removal since my mower is a rear finish unit. As for the forks, mine go on loader in place of the bucket so I never have to take the loader off.

Your not by yourself. My last tractor had over 1200 hr. and the loader had never been taken off. The one I have now won't ever have it off either.

We have some pretty rough spots that we bush hog to keep tidy (need to disc etc. but that's another story). Hogging with the loader on really bounces around quite a bit but I didn't like the light front end without it. I picked up some front weights and love it now without the loader. It's a couple minutes to remove/attach and the weights are even quicker. The tractor seems to handle better without the loader but maybe it's just the improved visibility.

The experience from the seat is so different with/without it's almost like having two tractors for the price of one /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I just about have to use the FEL when using boxblade. Gives my little 2210 added traction from the front diff. Without seems to spin a lot easier.

I guess I'm a minority. The only time the FEL is off the 4700 is
when I have an oil change to do or some other engine work to
perform. I have never worked the tradtor without the FEL.

But I use it constantly even when mowing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Its real easy to get on and off though. I need it all the time.
Take away the FEL/4n1 and you might as well take the whole
tractor.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I take the FEL and BH on and off sometimes two or more times a day. It is so easy to change them that I never hesitate to remove them when they are not needed or in the way. After I got the FEL bucket and mower caught up in a fence I would never think of mowing with the loader on again. It was an expensive experience that you do not want to duplicate. One caught in the fence any movement in any direction meant more damage to the fence.

Ditto's for me. Had my 790 for 3 years, almost 500 hours on it and never once, have I had the need or desire to remove it. The FEL is the most used implemnt I own!!

I take mine off to mow, but I have to figure out a way to put my front
weights on without removing the FEL safety latch /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I took it off
once and had a heck of a time figuing out how to put it back on correctly.
Unfortunately the JD manuals don't give you a real clear picture of just
the latch, so I had to experiment. My goal this year is to see if I can put
the weight retainer bar through the hold in the safety latch. Otherwise the
weights bounce around to much and mowing without the weights causes
the tractor to hop when raising and lowering the RMM.
