Do you ever remove your loader?

When the 3-point RFM goes on the FEL comes off. I don't like that bucket hanging way out front when I'm dragging a mower. It's easy to mount or dismount the FEL without the use of tools so why not take it off.

I almost never remove mine, why not, its too handy there. Even mowing, its the place to load our favorite cash crop (anybody wanna buy some rocks?!!)

Even so, I did take it off this weekend, and I almost worried if I'd remember how. No worries, easy as pie!

I guess I'm pretty much in line with everyone on this.
I take the loader off of the 2210 as often as I need to do so. I only take if off for the tasks that don't need it, or are better off without it. Tasks such as Mowing, spreading, and tilling in tight spaces fall in to this category.
Otherwise it stays on when parked or stored (take up less space) or for every day landscaping jobs or moving stuff.
It comes off and on sooo easy, I too have done it several times in a day.
I moved in to our new house last August, and the lawn is all new (what there is of it), so I have racked up way more hours using the loader than the mower at this point. The loader is so useful, I can't imagine where I'd be without it.

I guess I'll be the oddball. I've never removed the loader on the 1050 in 17 years... It's just too handy to have. I use it all the time when bushhogging to move fallen limbs out of the way. I can see if one was mowing the lawn it would be a hendrance, but I have a lawnmower for that.

I haven't taken mine off and I've had it for 9 months or so. I really should some time but the first time is kind of scary /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. I don't have a RFM for it yet, I would want to remove it for that.

Yep, and after that first time, you'll find it's so quick and easy that you'll be taking it off and putting it on all the time. Whether tilling the garden, mowing the yard, or brushhogging the pasture, the better visibility and maneuverability, but especially the more comfortable ride, made the 2 to 3 minutes it took to remove the loader the only way to go; for me at least. And of course it doesn't take any longer to put it back on than it does to take it off.

Of course I had a smooth flat spot on concrete where I always took mine off and left it. If you have to take it off just on dirt, try to make sure it's relatively level and firm.

Thats right Bird. I find the whole process is about a 2 minute ordeal. Using a mower without it on is well, take yours off and you will see. It's like a whole different tractor. I did it to my neighbors JD 790. He resisted and did not want to until I just went over and did it. Didn't even tell him. He mowed with it off and came back saying, unbelievablely more manuverable and frankly, I think safer, especially for any objects like sprinklers, trees, structures, and fences. Try it, you'll like it.

Agreed, RaT. The ONE feature of my 4110 that won't live without and have not seen duplicated on any other CUT like it is the incredible ease of mounting and dismounting the FEL. I can't imagine trying to cut my lawn with the FEL on, it would be a regular demolition derby.

BTW, I keep the FEL in a pole shed with a dirt floor. It really helps to drop the bucket on a couple of boards and have the 'feet' that swing down land on a piece of 3/4 plywood.

Scott, I'm with you, 5 years and 400+ hours and I've never removed the FEL. And it is a quick detach. JJT
