Do you fill your tires?

You could try the fluid in the front tires, but will likely not add much weight as they won't hold but a gallon plus/minus.
Some suitcase weights on the weight bar might be in order for you. Pretty standard to counter balance a tiller.
Too bad you don't have dual rear brakes as they help in such cases, but don't come on the size of the LX279.

At the local JD dealership I believe they said they used diesel fuel & water.
My friend in upstate (very cold winters) NY said they use anti-freeze.
Interesting thread.
 This must not be done. Diesel attacks the type of rubber used for tires. Also does not go into solution with water and thus would not prevent freezing.

None of the tires are filled on any of my mowing equipment. I would consider removable weights because of possible lawn damage.

I would use weights on the front and rear. Most of our AG tractors have fluid in the rears but all of our compacts do not.

You don't fill front tires because it throws off the balance when you run front implements. The back is a different story, you load them.

In the front use suitcase weights like someone here suggested.
