I pretty much stopped drinking alcohol in '85. About 10 years ago I started drinking near beer with pizza. I found I like O'Douls Amber the best of the fake beers. But man, it is expensive... now up over four bucks a six! And get this... in Indiana, you cannot purchase alcohol on Sundays... that includes non-alcoholic beer!

This year I took a risk and went back to real beer. I can have one with a meal once in a while with no ill effects, so I am working on my third six-pack this year. It has 5 left in it!

Colorado finally got civilized last July 1, and we can buy booze on Sunday's. YAY!

Same here mjncad . It pretty much ruined the bootleggers buisness though. there were allways places You could buy it on Sundays at 3 times the cost .

There used to be a few sign,t at the Kansas state borders that said set Your clocks back 100 years You are now in Kansas . . Allthough I doubt they were put up by the state I still found it to be true & funny . . Bob

But I would never drink before operating my motorcycle and always wore a helmet. I can't for the life of me remember why or how I justified the difference between bike and car. Pretty stupid, looking back on it.

I rode a motorcycle once after having a few. On a bike, I could really feel the effects. I overshot a turn by just a bit and recall something like snapping awake - while I could easily compensate in a car, I could see myself getting into trouble on the bike. I swore to never again let that happen.

And now it's just so much simpler - no alcohol when driving any sort of vehicle: jetski, boat, tractor, motorcycle, car.

It's been a lot of years since I had an O'Douls, but it was good enough it just might have become a habit if I hadn't thought it was too overpriced.

It pretty much ruined the bootleggers buisness though.

I was born and raised in Oklahoma; lived there until I was almost 17. Back then Oklahoma was dry except for 3.2 beer. But I doubt there was a kid anywhere 10 years old or more that didn't know where the bootleggers were. It was common knowledge.

I had a friend that used to ride a hot Kawasaki H1. When he would drink, he would ride some little 125CC on/off road bike around instead. One night, after a bought of drinking, he pulled up to a stop light next to some guy in a pickup truck, looked over at him, then fell over. He forgot to put his feet down. He layed there on his side revving the engine but couldn't figure out why he wasn't moving. The guy was kind enough to pick him up, throw the bike in the back and give him a ride home.

Back to the original question....I DO have cold bevs whilst operating my tractor....I have been doing it a long time, but I don't get stupid.

I've had a few while mowing, but I find the bouncing around makes the beer go flat, so I usually wait until I'm finished or take a break for the cold beer and then go back to mowing. We're on vacation so I'm having a few cold ones now while I think about my tractor and read TBN-------------Does that count?
