i have noticed for the past 2 or 3 yr when you go to the vets to take your dog for shots the first thing thay ask "do you want an ID chip in ,{incase they get lost,they can be scanned} "last year on the mule groups this came up,out west they were trying to start it, asking for volentiers, none of us mule ppl are signing up. i didnt get my dogs chipped, i figure if they runaway,i hope there in a better hotel LOL is dog catcher really gonna scan them? i think not.is some one who finds your dog gonna take him to vet to scan him? do they think were stupid? i have recived paper work to chip,volentiary.. i filled it in the recycle box..R

Most likely the dog will be killed. Most found dogs are.

Yes, they will.

Many people do. I do. Or they will bring the dog to the pound who will scan the dog.

In any case, I can't imagine why you wouldn't chip your dogs. Most municipal pounds will chip your dog for a very low fee ($30? sometimes much less). If my dog runs off after a deer and gets lost or if someone steals him, I would like to think I did everything I could to get him back. My dogs are pretty important to me.

As to chipping mules? Until a large percentage of mules are chiped, people are unlikely to check for a chip. Chicken, egg thing.

My dog chases deer. The only bad part is that he has yet to catch and kill the things.

No actually, I was using that as an example.

Mostly they chase squirrels, butterflys, bumble bees, and airplanes.
