Do you have insurance coverage on your tractor?

yes, i have Inland marine coverage thru State Farm. As stated on maybe 30 other threads about this same thing (hehe) Homeowners policy may or may not cover you...but guaranteed wont cover you once you leave the property.

If you try to be mr nice guy and plow the neighbors driveway or drill some post holes for him...not covered.

i pay a few hundred per year to get full coverage including a 2,000,000 rider for commercial use.

Sounds maybe like you have nicer insurance companies South of the border.

Back in the late seventies, when this place I live on was just used for weekends, I was teaching my Girl Friend how to drive the tractor. It all went horribly wrong when she hit a large landcsaping rock, the tractor threw us both off, and headed for the house causing some moderate damage to house and machine! The insurance company I believe All State or Statefarm, at first said they would pay up and then denied the claim saying that it wasn't one of us that was driving, but the GF! That's when we cancelled all insurance and never got any again!

As for the ornamental rock. Still have many of them, but never place them where they could become hazzards to navigation!

Neighbor covered his large 4WD articulated tractor under his homeowners. He was picking up an implement he was borrowing from a neighbor when the fire started - all that was left was scrap value. His homeowners covered the fire call but nothing on his tractor since it was off property. I have farm insurance that covers all my equipment up to 250 miles from home, but my wife is a partner in her family farm 700 miles south where we use our mini-excavator during the winters. In that case we accept the risk.

I'm thinking if it can survive this winter, then surviving the exclusions will be "a piece of cake!"

I have my homeowners insurance through Nationwide. All of my tractors, equipment, tools, etc are covered under my home owner's policy as long as I don't take them off my land. Basically, not for hire.

Do you have to have your home or auto with them to qualify for this policy with Farm Bureau? Are you a member of the Farm Bureau?

My homeowner's coverage is for our property only. Kubota does not offer any liability coverage. Looks as if I need to look elsewhere..Farm Bureau?

I have an inland marine policy through State Farm, my homeowners policy is a separate one (different policy number) through them too as is my Jeep.

My policy covers the tractor on my property and also liability IF I go to town for fuel, provided I am not driving it all over town (as personal transportation).

KATC is good insurance, and is required while financing new equipment. My '09 L3400 is now paid for and the initial insurance policy came up for renewal recently - with a 30% price increase. I was disappointed that insurance on a 4 year old tractor would go UP rather than down. I did talk to their rep but got nowhere on reducing the premium.

So, considering that I almost never take my tractor off of my property, it's covered at 100% replaceable value (not depreciated value) under my homeowner's insurance at no extra cost. That coverage includes everything that KATC coverage if it is on my property. I have no qualms with KATC and their coverage is ideal for many owners - just not for me at this time.

State Farm will write the policy without requiring you to live on the same premise as the equipment. This was important to me, as my home is 5 miles from my acreage/barn/equipment. The policy covers my tractor for a radius of 200 miles, so I can drive it home if needed.
