Do you like the sound of your new car or truck engine?

I know on the new Challenger Scat Pak they have an electric valve in each side of the exhaust system. On the Challenger Forums someone posts pics of this setup. Everyone kept asking what is was for, it wasn't a true cutout. You guessed it, for sound effects only.

My Challenger was too quiet from the factory and I added aftermarket exhaust and what is called a cold air intake, which a lot of people do. Sounds much better and picks up a little power.

Did the cold air intake effect the exhaust tone?

I have a Subaru WRX with the SPT (Subaru Performance Techology) cat-back exhaust. Subaru flat fours have a very distinctive exhaust note.

Mine is pretty much like this but the hatch has a single exhaust pipe.

No but you get that intake moan like the old 4 barrels had. I've also seen it debated on various forums on how much power they add. Probably about 5 hp. A lot of "cold air intakes" also aren't really that great for the "cold" part. Many of them actually will suck in more air than the factory setup.

Normally I drive kinda like a grandpa. Recently I had the need to drive my 2013 F150 (V8) up a snowy hill at 4-5,000 RPM. It sounded GREAT!

How long has this been going on? Was I hearing a fake sound inside my truck? I did enjoy it but if I'm the only one who heard it I'm no longer impressed.

Not all of them have a "fake sound" but I'm not sure what ones do or don't.

So you can hear the air going in louder. Gotcha.

I guess, technically, my 1993 Suburban came with cold air intake from the factory.... hahaha
Here's a picture of a similar one to mine..

Hack the program and substitute a turkey gobbling sound so every time you stomp on it you can remind yourself of what you bought.

Just kiddin', but wouldn't that be fun to do to someone else's vehicle?

Moss Road, flip the lid on that air cleaner and put it back on. That will open up the air cleaner element and you will get the sound.

I couldn't hear it if I did.... my muffler fell off about 4 years ago.
