"Do you want some free new equipment?" What is this scam??

I choose not to live my life swimming in paranoia and fear. I choose to live my life based on the initial assumption that my fellow man, usually, is a decent Joe. You get to choose your way.
And I choose to think when some Joe comes up to me in a vehicle trying to give me FREE stuff, I instantly think SCAM:laughing::laughing:
Again, peeps are giving away free stuff all the time from web sites, ask them to deliver it and see what they say:laughing:

I got a Pramac S5000 generator for free...and it was delivered. Nothing wrong with it except the muffler was gutted and it was loud. The construction company it came from had bought a new one and had no use for it. Things like that are the exception, not the rule.

I've had a few freebies too, but they were from people or companies that I knew and knew me. No out-of-the-blue solicitation.

Maybe it was a scam. Maybe it was a business downsizing and didn't want the hassle of having to try to CL a bunch of stuff. The point is, no one knows.

Guarantee you 100% that the OP's scenario is a scam. No "maybe" about it.

Exactly. I've seen it done, too, but with connections. Out of the blue driving up? It's a scam. Could be stolen goods, could just be crap goods. Could be someone scouting your house and property looking to get themselves a five finger discount.

I'm not living my life "swimming in paranoia and fear" but I've seen enough scams pulled and dealt with enough of these scumbags to know what they are up to. Down here, we call it reality.

I live my life with honor and do not cheat people, but I do not for one second trust my fellow man. Honor and trustworthiness are dying virtues. Making a quick buck at someone's expense is as popular as ever.

Already a discussion about the difference between free credit HISTORIES versus free SCORES. Since scores are based on your history, just run a different credit bureau's history every four months to get an overview of what's presented on each history and only buy the scores about every 3 or 4 years. If report shows you pay your bills on time and shows pretty good credit ratios you usually only need your scores if you are taking out a loan (today some apartment management and employers) will pull them also.

Free tax software does exist but with limitations. If you go to the IRS website (Internal Revenue Service) the verbage says they list companies that allow free filing). They have some sort of age or income limitation and are for simple taxes, not ones with multiple schedules.

Used the IRS website three days ago on a friend's older son's taxes and its true, his fed taxes were free, efiling and all but they wanted $15 for the state. I just said no to preparing state and printed out the forms from our state website and filled out by hand. They turned those in at our county's Treasurer office who checks them over and forwards to the state office free.

had the same thing happen on a couple job sites around here. for the last couple years.

it's not free, but it is cheap, and you get what you pay for

They rolled up to my uncles job site. said the same thing. and it was free until the 280 pound concrete guy walked up and grabbed the generator out of the back of the truck. then we had to talk, he had to get something for it.

I confess i didin't read the whole post, but let me guess. All gasoline powered tools. generators, pumps, compressors?

It wasn't to badly priced, but it was cheap stuff. some of it even lasted
