Have any of you read the warranty book? It plainly says the Cummins warranty BEGINS at the end of the 3/36 warranty.JC
Send a letter to Dodge. From what you have found it seems like they misled you. If you want to pursue this do everything in writing.

What other ways are there? All of the ones I know of are due to the pump overheating due to low fuel pressure. 70% of the fuel pumped to the VP is for cooling and recirculated to the tank. When the LP fails, the VP can still pull enough fuel to run fine, until it overheats and fries the electronics in the pump.

I read some stuff on bluechipdiesel.com about the pump, of course they are selling a rebuilt pump of their own. JC

Something else that kills them is extended idling , and running low on fuel in the tank in general.
Fresh filters more often than needed. Alot of guys upgrade to a pusher pump.
It could have just been it's time to go too.
A buddy of mine lost his first LP and IP at 36500 miles.....

Sorry about your luck Rolltide......
Can't wait to get a rearend back in mine and get it back on the road!!

I had a few Dodge diesels, Are you sure it isn't your lift pump vs injection pump?

Code 0216

A new LP may help it last longer.
I was at a well known (in these parts) Cummins tuner's place a while back....
A guy came in with the same issue, he told the guy to run a quart of trans fluid with his fuel.
Said it had helped quite a few that he had run longer.
Dunno......
Mine are both 12 valves, I run additive.

I hope running 11psi down the road and 9psi loaded up hill, the lift pump is okay. The in the tank pump that Dodge now installs, runs around 5psi. JC

This makes no sense to me. No one on the planet would set warranties up to run consecutively rather than concurrently unless it was an extended warranty and those are completely different. He never got to the 100k, but the 5 years is up. I am likely to run out of years before I run out of miles myself.
