Hi again,

I thought I wanted an open-station, foldable-ROPS B2630 until very recently, but now I'm leaning toward a B3030HSDC, but I'm not a fan of the HST's (seemingly-inherent) "whine."

Won't a cab of any kind, especially a METAL/GLASS one, amplify the perceived HST whine?

I've been reading a thread on here recently about folks who have drilled and filled their ROPS with a variety of foams, and greatly, if not completely (?) decreased their HST whine.

So...IS there any hollow-tube, ROPS like structural members inside a B3030HSDC that could be filled in such a fashion, or is the cab itself the only ROPS, and possibly only made up of angle-iron-type steel, with no hollow-tubes, like a fixed or foldable ROPS, that could be filled.

Also, even if tube-filling works, and there are tubes in the B3030HSDC's cab that could be filled, won't the glass and steel cab STILL "hold in" more HST whine than on an open-station tractor?

Thanks in advance!

My Hoe, I have a cabbed B3030 kubota with the HST transmission and I feel the "whine" is a little loud. If there is any complaint I have about this tractor I think it would be the sound level. It is most noticeable when cutting the grass when the RPM's are high. Any other time it's not too bad. Would I go back to an open cab, ABSOLUTELY not!! When it's time to move snow you can't beat the enclosed cab with the heat. This applies also in the summer time where the temperature is near a 100 degrees or hotter and I'm sitting inside a great air conditioned tractor. It is my understanding the new B3000 has increased sound proofing but I haven't seen one in person (looks identical to the B3030) so I can't verify if it is in fact quieter. One of the issues with the HST, on any brand, is the whine. So I guess it's the give an take of having a great transmission in a heated/cooled tractor and having to put up with the whine. As somebody mentioned it's a tractor and not a Lexus. I'm not sure what area you live in but if you move a lot of snow or it's extremely hot I personally feel you will love the cabbed tractor. Good luck with your decision. Let us know what you decide. Stanley

I pretty much only run cab tractors now. My 5030 does whine some, but it sure isn't as noisy as everything else; all you have to do to appreciate how much quieter it is, is open the cab door while operating something like a MMM deck or especially a rotary cutter.

Yes, cabs make HST whine much louder.

Im not 100% onboard with this opinion. On my B7500 with curtis cab & my B3030 with factory cab i would agree. I think my GL 3540 factory cab is actually quieter!

From what I've heard the factory cabs on the Grand L series are substantially more quiet then the 3030, and a completely different trans. I wish the HST transmission that is offered in the L series would be offered in the B series. A friend of mine has the 3240 (non cabbed) and he raves about his HST.

Yes they do....but the a/c, heater and radio will help solve that . Without any cab the only whining youll hear will be the operators

I just put a soft cab on mine and I was ready to take it in for a checkup when I first ran it with the cab on. I took the cab off and the loud whine went away. I'm not real happy about it but no much I can do.

Is there any sort of new framework that you had to install? or does it just attach to existing metal. I was thinking maybe any new frame may cause some noise import??
