Does a lighter moter oil give you more power?

/ Does a lighter moter oil give you more power? #11
Engines are designed for a specific oil weight. Things like connecting rod bearings, cam shaft bearings, etc are usually tighter on the engines spec'd for thinner oil. It's not much of a difference but running too thin of an oil will mean at operating temps oil will not build up the pressure needed.

A rod bearing is really nothing more than metal wearing on metal with a thin layer of oil trying to prevent them from touching. Where the thinner oil robs less HP from the engine is when it comes to moving it throughout the engine. A toothpaste tube full of water is easier to squeeze than one full of toothpaste.
