Does adding a pic make an edit?

I know I've usually a few minutes to correct a post before it shows "last edited" and the time it was edited.
I just added a picture to a post that was ~4 hours old and it didn't show "last edited" and the time. Is this normal?

You’d think any changes, like editing a post by adding a photo would trigger a “ last edited “ description.

To the Universe? No. But can't one just be curious?

Actually there have been many occasions over the years that I've been in an online discussion and a photo would clear things up. But on many forums one can't edit a post after a certain time period. And an edited post shows something might have been changed, but usually it's not obvious exactly what was changed.
