Does anybody buy ammo online?

We use to shoot every week and would buy lots of ammo in many different calibers on line in bulk, almost as cheap as re-loading, but low and behold we now have the un-SAFE act in New York State and can't purchase ammo on line any more, Beware in your states that they don't do the same as was in ours, at midnight no less! And the top speakers of both parties are under federal indictments and investigations , go figure.

The day I changed my state of residency from New York to Washington was almost as happy as when I changed it from Washington to New Hampshire. Growing up in NYS I can still remember my father cussing out the idiotic and tyrannical Sullivan laws. And tyranny has only gotten worse in NYS over the years. Unfortunately, few voters in that state have ever heard of putting a frog in a cold water to boil it.

Forgive me for being outdated. I haven't shot or bought ammo in 30-40 years. But I do have some Remington and Winchester 22LR ammo that old. Is that old ammo still good? Does Remington or Winchester still make it? I'd like to buy some new ammo from Remington or Winchester however, ........ and wherever I can get some.
Cheers,
oldballs

I've shot stuff over 20 years old and only had 3 to 5 misfires per 100. For normal target practice and hunting, never noticed any differences in accuracy. If you shoot competition, you might notice then; but people who shoot competition go through so much ammo that having old stuff around is never going to happen. As long as it hasn't been exposed to water, heat, or corrosives, your old ammo should shoot just fine. Just check to make sure there's no corrosion on the outside of the casings.

As for encryption and secure sites, it doesn't bother me to be getting snail mail from the NRA or other gun, hunting, fishing, political, and other organizations, nor catalogs from militia supply groups. What does bother me is having Big Brother snooping on everything I'm doing, and sticking me on hidden lists for harassment. To you and I, a terrorist is someone who targets innocent civilians. To a tyrannical government, a terrorist is someone who targets the government. There's a universe of difference between the two.

Thanks for the replies. My main concern was in giving out information to a company which I know nothing about.
I'll check out some of the sites which others have had good luck with.

I'm really not worried about being on some outdoors mailing list, and it'd a sad day if anything I do as a law abiding citizen puts me on a government watch list.

....... it'd (be) a sad day if anything I do as a law abiding citizen puts me on a government watch list.

Then it's a VERY SAD day. You would be surprised, most likely, at the number of lists that contain your name.

If you've ever touched a penny, it's already too late...

Thanks, Dr Z. Think I'll get the old stuff out and look it over.......or save it as a collectors item.
Cheers,

If I couldnt buy ammo online, honestly, I don't know what I would do. Local stores have been dry on factory ammo and reloading supplies now for years. It seems like some reloading supplies are finally coming back, but powder and Berger bullets can still be hard to find. Brass can also be a major hassle.

With the NSA storing every email, text message and phone call that you make, forever, there is not much need to talk about lists. We are way past the electronic version of the kinds of data capture that the stazi (east german secret police) had on citizens in East Berlin. My former mother in law escaped from East Berlin and she was interrogated by the secret police before getting out. Welcome to the future...

Stores I can recommend are:
Wideners (tough to navigate - not very user friendly but good deals on military surplus ammo and reloading supplies)
Grafs (reloading supplies mainly but also sell ammo)
MidwayUSA They sell pretty much everything, but not always the best price and if you buy powder and primers you have to combine as much as possible to offset hazmat shipping

A lot of people shun cheaperthandirt because of their price gouging in the wake of Sandy hook and generally shady dealings. If we do not treat traitors they way they should be treated, shame on us.

I drive past Cabelas twice a week and in the last 3 years have found some rimfire ammo on the shelf on just 1 occasion and that was with a 2 boxes per customer limit (100 cartridges). 22 Magnum ammo has been absolutely the hardest to find and in 2013 I did a lot of ammo trading (223 for 22wmr) in order to have any ammo at all for night coyote hunting. There does not seem to be a light at the end of that tunnel yet....

I have bought and shot a lot of ammo from Freedom Munitions. Have yet to have a failure to fire and very few failure to feed. The FTF are most likely my fault. This is on both new and remanufactured goods. All in all very pleased with the folks there.

I asked a WalMart employee if they have any stashed away for people who buy a new firearm- they don't.

I also should have added in my opening statement that Cabelas Online does have limited in stock ... 1 box limit per day. (4.99 for CCI, 5.99 for Remington) The shipping on one box isn't worth it, but if you you can piggyback on another order...
At least they're trying to accommodate all of their customers.

Cabelas have maintained the most reasonable pricing since the shortage started. I buy from them when there is a quantity available that makes shipping reasonable. (boxes of 500 or bulk packs) . I wish there was a store close enough to me to shop.
