OK, OK...
You guys chopped me down with the .22 shot but I've killed lots of rattlers with them. Just have to be close enough. I've shot several last year with my .177 Gamo pellet gun too. (1000 fps). Again, Just have to close enough.

Here's a picture of a couple with the pellet gun. This one's still got that creepy bend in him, but he's pretty dead. Diamondbacks here. I don't like handling them because there so dangerous. Look closely on that rock next to me and you'll see another one.

Here's one more picture of my son Wesley (7 years old then) after shooting his first rattler ever. He used 5 shots to the head with his pellet /BB gun (Daisy 880 I think) and this one is quite dead. He's a lefty shooter....good shot too. We got lots of snakes up here and have to be extra careful. Be sure they are dead before handling them. I usually check them by pounding them on the head with a big stick.

I once cut a rattler's head off after shooting him and his body (without head) still struck at me! Wierdest feeling EVER.

A dealer at the gun show I've just returned from had two of those 4410s in his display case, one in stainless steel and the other in black. IIRC, the stainless was in the $525 price range, but I looked at so much stuff I could easily be misremembering the price. Seemed a little steep, but it's an unusual item. I believe they have a longer barrel version coming out this fall.

Thanks to all of you on the TBN that has written a post about this small Snake Charmer 410 shotgun. All this information that you have written about this small shotgun is what I needed to know. I have copperhead snakes all over my farm, and sometimes I run into a timber rattlesnake. I am going to buy me one these small 410 shotguns to keep on my tractor and truck at all times. Thanks again for the info. All you people here on the TBN are OUTSTANDING when a person needs some information on a certain item. I love this TBN website. This is the only website that I know of where a person can post on, and not get stupid replies. All people on the TBN are serious about their post. I rate this website, and the people that post on it *****5-STARS.

Glad to help. You might also give the Savage 24F a look. small, single shot shotgun with a single shot rifle barrel also. kind of a over/under deal with rifle on top and shotgun below. They have quite a few combos with .22, 30-30, .22 hornet over .410 20 and 12 guages. They are kind of heavy, but not to much $$.

EDIT: just checked they also offer .223 and .17 hmr. Sadly they dont seem to make a .410 shotgun combo, just 20 and 12 gauges. They use to make a .410 model which you might find at a gun show, etc... The MSRP on the website is also WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to much $$ I have seen them new for half that amount.

have you seen them in a gunshop lately? The prices have skyrocketed in the last few years and used ones are scarcer than hen's teeth. I had a 22/20G that I sold-
no, practically GAVE away a few years ago when money was tight. Boy don't I kick myself now. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Reading this thread makes me glad I live in Maine...the only snakes we see are nonpoisonous and eat mice. It also makes me think of my old TC Contender handgun with the 410/45 barrel... that left at the same time as my Savage. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ya know, actually I havent seen them new in a few years, seems the last time I held a new it had a $299 pricetag hanging off it. However I have a lot of friends in the gun business /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and do a lot of trading, so my $$$ amounts probably arent all that accurate. I guess like everything else as time goes by, the price tag goes up /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have checked at Wal Mart, and you can buy one of these snake charmer 410 shotguns for around $117.00 to $150.00 to $175.00 at other places, and gunshops.
