Does anyone recognize this part?

I'm a member of a metal detecting forum and a fellow detectorist posted this in the "whats it" category. Does anyone recognize this? It looked like a part from an old implement or farm equip. so I thought I would bring the photos over here to see if you guys could help ID it.

At the first photo, it looks like an eye of a cable could be pushed through the top hole, then over the bottom projection. This would make a "T" end fitting, which may have then kept the cable from pulling through a hole or another cable eye.

The first pic almost looks like the latch end on a pitman arm that hooks on the sickle bar. The second pic says that isn't it at all? ?

Looks a little bit like a knife clip, or holddown for a sickle mower.

Any chance that it's simply a crusty old bottle opener, the kind used back before the days of plastic bottles and twist-off tops?
